Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have released a statement together following the overwhelming support for Kate's ongoing battle with cancer.

In a statement from Kensington Palace to We on Saturday, March 23, it was shared, "The Prince and Princess have been deeply touched by the kind messages from people in the UK, across the Commonwealth, and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness' message. They are truly grateful for the outpouring of warmth and support from the public, and they appreciate everyone's understanding of their need for privacy during this time."

Kate, 42, revealed her diagnosis on Friday, March 22, following her surgery two months ago in London. Initially, doctors believed her condition was noncancerous, but tests later revealed the presence of cancer.

Kate was taken by surprise by the news, describing it as a "huge shock." She mentioned that she and William intend to handle the situation privately to protect their family. The couple has three children together – Prince George, who is 10, Princess Charlotte, who is 8, and Prince Louis, who is 5.

She shared that the process has not been easy, as she needed time to recover from significant surgery before starting her treatment. Kate highlighted the importance of taking the time to explain the situation to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that they can understand and feel reassured about her well-being.

Kate found out about her diagnosis last month. On the same day, William had to cancel his appearance at a memorial service for personal reasons. According to a source, they have been taking time to process the news. They decided to wait until their children were on Easter break before sharing the information with the world. This way, they could have some time to themselves before it became a topic of public discussion.

Kensington Palace shared in January that Kate will not be participating in any royal events until after Easter due to a planned surgery.

A statement released through the palace's official X account mentioned that the procedure went well, and Kate is expected to stay in the hospital for ten to fourteen days before going home to recover. According to the latest medical advice, she is not likely to resume her public duties until after Easter.

After Kate returned home to Windsor, William took some time off to help her recover before getting back to his own responsibilities. Soon, rumors began circulating about why Kate was staying out of the public eye.

A month later, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer.

The palace announced in February that during The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, doctors also discovered a form of cancer.

Buckingham Palace further explained that His Majesty has started a series of regular treatments and has been advised by doctors to delay public appearances. Despite this, The King will still carry out State business and official duties as normal.

Amid his battle with cancer, Charles has been seen in public only a few times. Kate, on the other hand, has been spotted in a few blurry photos. The first sighting was on March 4, sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by her mother, Carole Middleton. She was also seen with William on March 11 and at Windsor Farm Shop on Saturday, March 16, as shown in a video from TMZ.

Since returning to his royal duties, William has mentioned his wife Kate several times. While traveling to support The Royal Foundation's Homewards Programme on Tuesday, March 19, William praised Kate for her success as a mother.

“Venturing into my wife’s territory here,” he said. “She needs to be sat here to hear this.”
