Prince Harry shared his thoughts on the enjoyable and significant time he had while participating in the Royal Salute Polo Challenge for his Sentebale nonprofit.
In a statement following the polo match on Friday, April 12, the 39-year-old prince expressed his gratitude for bringing together the polo community that has consistently supported the work of Sentebale.
He highlighted the importance of the event in raising funds to help the local teams on the ground deliver programs that bring about life-changing impacts.
The Sentebale team’s dedication is crucial in providing hope, education, and assistance to children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana who are facing challenges such as high unemployment, poverty, and HIV/AIDS. We appreciate the support from guests, sponsors, and partners who have come together to help with this important work. A big thank you to the players for making today’s game possible.
The Duke of Sussex, who co-founded Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006, took part in a match at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida. Harry played for the Royal Salute Sentebale team and led them to a 3-1 victory over the Grand Champions squad.
Harry’s crew even beat the duke’s longtime friend, and professional polo athlete, Nacho Figueras on Friday.

"Playing alongside my friend Prince Harry in support of Sentebale is always a great honor," Figueras, an ambassador for the nonprofit, shared. "It's not just about the game; it's about working together to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it. Our goal, through our teamwork on the field, is to raise awareness and provide support for Sentebale's important work."
After Harry led his team to victory, his wife Meghan Markle presented them with a trophy. Meghan, who is the Duchess of Sussex and 42 years old, looked stunning in a white Heidi Merrick halter dress. She paired it with Aquazarra heels, vintage Chanel earrings, a Valentino clutch, and oversized sunglasses. As she handed Harry the award, she also gave him a sweet kiss.
In addition to playing in a polo match, Harry took part in a fireside chat. He moderated a discussion with Dr. Sophie Chandauka, the chair of Sentebale's board, and Ntoli Moletsane, the country director of Sentebale. Together, they talked about the organization's future goals and the ongoing challenges that children in Africa are facing.
In a statement, Chandauka mentioned that we are only two years away from celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our extraordinary organization. The support we receive from every community where we hold our fundraising events shows that our work is valued by people and partners like Royal Salute. This support is especially important for the children and young people who benefit from our programs. It helps them realize their potential and gives them hope for a future where they can overcome the challenges of poverty and inequity.
