According to a source, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are contemplating a relocation to Malibu after living in California for three years. The couple, aged 41 and 38 respectively, currently call Montecito their home along with their children Archie (4) and Lilibet (2). Our source reveals that they thoroughly enjoy their current lifestyle, but feel that it is somewhat isolated and far from the city.
The duchess spent her childhood on the West Coast and frequently visited Malibu, according to the source. Her love for the beach influenced her and Harry's decision to settle in Montecito. Though no firm decision has been made, the possibility of permanently relocating to the coastal city is definitely being considered by them.
According to another source, Harry and Meghan have developed a fondness for the area after spending the last two summers in a friend's rental home. They have been casually searching for a house there. After announcing their decision to step down from their senior roles in the royal family, the Sussexes relocated to Los Angeles. Initially, they stayed in Tyler Perry's home, which was kept hidden from the rest of the royals.
"In the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which premiered in December 2022, Harry revealed that we were able to keep our presence a secret for six weeks. Not even my family knew I was there, as they believed I was still in Canada."
"After leaving the royal life, Meghan and Harry found themselves without the same level of security they had in the U.K. Perry, 53, expressed immediate empathy towards their situation, particularly for Meghan."
"I could sense the fear, it was undeniable. I mean, it was resonating in her voice," Perry recollected in the docuseries as he recounted a phone conversation with Meghan prior to their departure. "So, I inquired about her fears, and she took a deep breath before listing them. And I reassured her, saying, 'Each of your fears holds weight and significance.'"

After departing from Perry's mansion, which Harry described as "pure bliss" in the documentary, the couple decided to settle down in Montecito. This exclusive community is home to various celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres, Rob Lowe, and Jennifer Aniston.
According to a source who spoke exclusively to Us in August 2020, Meghan had visited Montecito during her teenage years and was captivated by its picturesque scenery and remarkable architecture. Although moving there had always been an option, Meghan and Harry initially chose to give Los Angeles a chance. Unfortunately, Harry had a strong dislike for the city, as the timing clashed with the coronavirus pandemic, leaving them devoid of privacy.
According to an insider, Montecito was seen as an added bonus for the couple due to its hour-long drive from Los Angeles. Currently searching for a new home in California, Harry and Meghan have said goodbye to their previous residence in the United Kingdom. Renovated in 2019, Frogmore Cottage was officially vacated by the pair last month, as confirmed by palace officials. This decision came after King Charles III requested his son and daughter-in-law to leave the property following the release of Harry's book, Spare, earlier this year.
