Powerful Display of Unity: Sweden Stands with Spain Amidst Spanish Football Scandal

Sweden and Spain players unite in a show of support amidst the ongoing scandal in Spanish football Their solidarity prevails as Spanish FA president resigns over an inappropriate gesture, while the World Cup-winning coach faces dismissal

Before their Women's Nations League match on Friday, players from Sweden and Spain stood united in solidarity. They gathered in front of a banner that conveyed the message "It's Over," addressing the scandal that has overshadowed Spanish football. Holding the banner together, the players displayed the Spanish phrase "Se Acabo," accompanied by the English phrase "Our fight is the global fight."

After Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales resigned last week for kissing player Jenni Hermoso on the lips during the trophy presentation ceremony following the World Cup win last month, the banner was immediately displayed. Furthermore, the kiss controversy led to the dismissal of World Cup-winning boss Jorge Vilda earlier this month.

Spain's encounter with Sweden marked their first match following their triumph over England in the Sydney finals. During the game held in Gothenburg, the Spanish players sported wristbands inscribed with the words "Se Acabo."

Prior to the match, the Spanish players had contemplated boycotting the game against Sweden. However, this decision was ultimately revoked after the Spanish FA pledged to implement "swift and substantial reforms" within its framework on Wednesday.
