This includes the Ghost Red Ranger, a brief yet already legendary appearance among Power Rangers' esteemed Red Rangers.
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury Brings Back Zayto’s Ghost Ranger Form
The intro of Power Rangers Cosmic Fury confirms the return of Zayto's Ghost Ranger for the new series. In the finale of Dino Fury season 2, Zayto's new Red Ranger form was introduced, which has now been referred to as "Ghost Ranger" or "Ghost Red Ranger." The Ghost Ranger form was derived from Dino Fury's standard Red Ranger costume, which was originally from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. However, Cosmic Fury was intended to be based on a different Super Sentai called Uchu Sentai Kyuranger. So, it was unclear if Dino Fury's Ghost Ranger would make a comeback in Cosmic Fury.
Shortly after Dino Fury concluded, Power Rangers confirmed that the Kyuranger suits would not be used in Cosmic Fury. Instead, the suits for Cosmic Fury were specifically created for the show and are not from any Super Sentai series. This marks the first time that a Power Rangers TV show will feature original costumes for all of the Rangers. With the introduction of new suits in Cosmic Fury, it seemed like Power Rangers might disregard its new Red Ranger form to focus on the new costumes. Fortunately, this is not the case. The Cosmic Fury intro confirms that the Ghost Red Ranger will indeed make a return in some capacity.
Power Rangers Dino Fury’s Ghost Red Ranger Explained
The Red Ranger Zayto from Power Rangers Dino Fury met his demise in the concluding episode of season 2. In order to vanquish the formidable Void Queen, who had absorbed the powers of all the Sporix monsters previously battled by the Power Rangers, Zayto made a supreme sacrifice. Void Queen had merged with the colossal Nemesis Beast and possessed enough strength to annihilate the entire world. The combined might of the three Dino Fury Megazords proved insufficient to defeat Void Queen, who had now evolved into one of the most formidable Power Ranger adversaries in history. To overcome this formidable enemy, Red Ranger Zayto had to utilize the lethal Dino Master Saber.
The Dino Master Saber from Dino Fury is an immensely potent weapon of the Power Rangers, bestowed upon them by the Green Morphin Master. However, the usage of the Dino Master Saber results in the demise of the wielder. The Dino Master Saber served as a final-resort weapon that the Rangers were not even authorized to possess. Zayto harnessed the unique power of this blade to harness the energy of all the Dino Fury Zords into one devastating strike. With a single swing of the enhanced Dino Master Saber, fueled by the energy of numerous Zords, Zayto eradicated the Nemesis Beast, but at the cost of his own life.
How Strong Zayto’s Ghost Ranger Is Compared To Power Rangers’ Red Rangers
Zayto’s demise in Dino Fury marked one of the most somber moments in Power Rangers history. However, as Dino Fury season 2 drew to a close, Zayto made a surprising comeback, donning a new attire. With an ethereal presence, the Power Rangers referred to Zayto as the "Ghost Red Ranger," encapsulating his mysterious resurrection. Zayto himself remained uncertain of the exact means behind his return, although he acknowledged the intervention of the Morphin Masters. The Dino Fury Ghost Ranger uniform fuses elements of the traditional Red Ranger suit with a distinctive white cape, elegantly fastened to a shoulder guard. While the majority of the Ghost Ranger's costume is adorned in white, the emblem adorning the center of the chest remains vividly red.
After Zayto's demise, the Morphin Masters delivered the news to the Rangers that their comrade had transcended and become an integral part of the immense entity known as the Morphin Grid. This extraordinary power source connects all Power Rangers teams, spanning across all dimensions and universes within the entire cosmos. When a team of Power Rangers morphs, they tap into the boundless might of the Morphin Grid. Consequently, the Morphin Masters wield omnipotent capabilities that grant them the ability to manipulate events throughout the past, present, and future in every multiverse. Upon his triumphant return at the conclusion of the season, Zayto revealed that the Morphin Masters had bestowed upon him "new powers."
Zayto melded with the Morphin Grid, obtaining new abilities bestowed upon him by the Morphin Masters themselves. According to Power Rangers mythology, this transformation crowns the Ghost Ranger as one of the mightiest Red Rangers in the entire franchise. It should be noted that power levels within Power Rangers can be inconsistent and subject to retcons. Nevertheless, it proves arduous to envision any other Red Ranger from the television canon accessing such an immense well of power. There may be one other exception in the form of Zeo Ranger V Red Tommy, who derived his energy from the astonishingly potent Zeo crystal.
Why Cosmic Fury’s New Red Ranger Form Won’t Last Long
Although it's exciting to witness the return of the Ghost Red Ranger from Dino Fury's finale in Cosmic Fury, this revamped Ranger form won't last for long. All of the Dino Fury Power Rangers, including Zayto, will receive new costumes in Cosmic Fury. Interestingly, Zayto won't be the Red Ranger anymore in Dino Fury, as the Pink Ranger Amelia will take on the role of the Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury. However, Zayto will still be a vital part of the team, now assuming the position of the Zenith Ranger. Not much information is available regarding the Zenith Ranger in Cosmic Fury, but his design closely resembles that of the Ghost Ranger.
The Power Rangers post above provides a better glimpse of the Cosmic Fury suits, showcasing Zayto's newfound powers that may rival or surpass his strength in Dino Fury. In the Cosmic Fury, Zayto retains his cape, now in a "champagne" color instead of white. The reasons behind Amelia's transition to the Red Ranger in Cosmic Fury, and Zayto's shift from Red to Zenith, are still unknown. Amelia had a significant role in Dino Fury season 2, particularly in the final episodes, which makes her appointment as the new Red Ranger and team leader somewhat expected.
However, this does beg the question of what Zayto's role will be in Cosmic Fury. One prevalent theory suggests that Zayto has attained the status of a Morphin Master himself, which could explain why he will no longer be the Red Ranger and team leader. As Morphin Masters are not supposed to directly intervene in the human world, it's possible that Zayto will step down from the Red Ranger role. Alternatively, Zayto might seek out a different power source and embark on a solo adventure, leaving the new Red Ranger, Amelia, in charge of the team in the upcoming Power Rangers series while assuming the identity of the Zenith Ranger.
