The release of the next game in the Mass Effect series might be delayed for some time. Despite BioWare teasing fans with a clip on N7 Day, reports suggest that the game is far from being ready.
Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb has stated that the next Mass Effect game is following a development timeline similar to Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. This game was announced in 2018 and is expected to be released no earlier than 2024. Considering the six-year development cycle, it is possible that the next Mass Effect game might not be available until 2028 or 2029.
The N7 Day teaser video for this year featured a mysterious character adorned in N7 colors, walking along. Although it lacked significant meaning, Mike Gamble of BioWare shared a binary code-filled statement in celebration of N7 Day.
Furthermore, BioWare confirmed via email to Our Website that the next installment of Mass Effect is still in its pre-production phase. Despite being announced in 2021, it seems unlikely that we'll get to experience it anytime soon. In a recent development, BioWare let go of their unionized QA testers who were actively involved in the development of the upcoming Dragon: Age Dreadwolf. As a mark of protest, these testers picketed outside the BioWare Edmonton office on N7 Day and are currently pursuing legal action regarding their severance packages.

As a Mass Effect fan, I am disappointed to hear that the next game in the series might not be released until 2029. I have been eagerly awaiting the next installment in the franchise since the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017. However, I understand that BioWare is currently focused on the highly anticipated Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which is expected to be released no earlier than 2024.
Given the six-year development cycle for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, it is possible that the next Mass Effect game might not be available until 2028 or 2029. While this is disappointing news, I am confident that BioWare will take the time necessary to create a high-quality game that is worthy of the Mass Effect name. In the meantime, I will continue to replay the original Mass Effect trilogy and enjoy the upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
