Pikmin 4's Version 1.0.2 update has just been released, focusing primarily on bug fixes. This update arrives just a little over two months after the initial launch of Pikmin 4.
In a sea of numerous Nintendo Switch games in 2023, Pikmin 4 stands out as one of the biggest titles. While facing some criticism for its low difficulty and limited multiplayer features, the game has been well-received overall thanks to its impressive presentation, beginner-friendly mechanics, extensive content, and overall design. Naturally, no video game is without flaws, and even after nearly a decade of development, some issues may still persist. Fortunately, the recent industry practice of patching allows for adjustments to be made to video games long after they have been released to the market.
Version 1.0.2 of Pikmin 4, as mentioned on Nintendo's support site, focuses primarily on resolving bugs. These bugs encompassed several aspects of the game, such as treasures disappearing when rewinding time, interruptions in dialogue with castaways, and characters vanishing from the Rescue Command Post. Additionally, there was a glitch that randomly determined whether players had enough Glow Sap for treatment, disregarding the actual availability. Fortunately, all of these issues have been addressed and fixed in this update. It is worth noting that this update also extends to the Pikmin 4 demo.
The update includes fixes for several glitches, such as one that allowed players to excessively expand their Pikmin army, one that caused the screen to remain dark after skipping cutscenes, and one that prevented certain treasures from being transported. Additionally, there were various other bugs addressed by Nintendo. A progress bar has been added to the in-game loading screens, allowing players to estimate when they can resume playing. It was also mentioned that players who purchased Pikmin 4 digitally can reduce load times by transferring the game to internal storage. Overall, these bug fixes enhance the gameplay experience for all players and further solidify Pikmin 4 as a highly acclaimed title in the series.
