Patti Stanger was impressed by the success of The Golden Bachelor but had some questions about Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's relationship before their divorce announcement. Stanger, 62, wondered why they were not living together and questioned what they needed to "work out" in terms of their living situation after marriage.
Apparently, Gerry and Theresa, 70, announced their divorce during a Good Morning America interview on Friday, April 12. Gerry had proposed to Theresa during The Golden Bachelor finale in November 2023, and they got married during a televised wedding on January 4.
Stanger speculated that Gerry may have chosen Theresa because of financial reasons. While the couple mentioned in their GMA interview that they had a prenup, it is unclear if they shared any finances. Reports suggest that Gerry, a former owner of burger franchises, had more money than Theresa, who works as a senior compliance officer at a financial advisory office.
Stanger also suggested that Turner may have felt some regret regarding his connection with runner-up Leslie Fhima.
She clarified that she did not want to blame The Bachelor for this, as she believed the show is just a platform for introductions. How contestants handle their relationships is up to them. In her experience at Bravo, they had a saying: "If you say it, they own it."

Stanger is no longer working with Bravo, but she now has a new show on The CW called The Matchmaker, which premiered on Thursday, April 11.
In an interview with Us, she mentioned that the new show is a departure from Millionaire Matchmaker. While there are some similarities, she is grateful to Bravo for that. The Matchmaker can also be streamed on Netflix. Stanger's Bravo show aired from 2008 to 2015.
With The Matchmaker, Stanger aims to address the concerns of every person post-pandemic who wonders why they are still single. The show explores topics such as ancestral trauma, attachment styles, and narcissism.
She expressed gratitude to the network for giving her the freedom to host the show, hinting that it will help viewers in breaking their patterns in love. Stanger will be cohosting the show with The Bachelor alum Nick Viall.
"It's incredibly exciting. This show is paving the way for something new on television," she remarked. She pointed out that unlike other dating shows, this one aims to educate viewers. "It's like a social experiment. What about those individuals who are stuck at home and not meeting anyone?"
Editor's P/S:
Patti Stanger's concerns about Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist's relationship before their divorce announcement highlight the complexities of finding love on reality TV. While the show may provide a platform for introductions, the success of a relationship ultimately depends on the individuals involved. Stanger's speculation about financial motives and regrets regarding Leslie Fhima raises questions about the authenticity of the connections formed on such shows.
Stanger's new show, "The Matchmaker," aims to address the challenges faced by singles today by exploring deeper issues such as ancestral trauma and attachment styles. By educating viewers on these topics, the show hopes to empower them to break negative patterns in love and find meaningful connections. Stanger's collaboration with Nick Viall, a former "Bachelor" alum, brings a unique perspective to the show, combining the insights of a matchmaker with the experiences of someone who has navigated the challenges of dating on reality TV.
