Patrick J. Adams Open to 'Suits' Reunion Movie, Jokes About Lack of Influence

Patrick J. Adams expresses interest in reprising his role as Mike Ross for a potential 'Suits' reunion movie, teasing its feasibility while humorously acknowledging his limited power in the decision-making process.

Fans are not the only ones excited for more Suits content. Patrick J. Adams is open to playing Mike Ross again if the opportunity arises.

During a panel at the ATX Television Festival on Sunday, June 2, Adams, 42, reunited with former costars Sarah Rafferty, Amanda Schull, Dulé Hill, Abigail Spencer, and USA exec Jeff Wachtel. The panel discussion took place following the renewed interest in the legal drama. When asked if the actors would consider reprising their roles, Adams quickly responded with a "Yes."

"He joked about not having power or authority," he said.

As the creator Aaron Korsh currently focuses on the upcoming spinoff series Suits: LA, Adams suggested that reuniting the original cast is still on his radar for a possible movie in the future.

Adams expressed his belief that it is possible for a certain event to occur, acknowledging that numerous factors will play a role in determining the outcome.

Suits attracted a new audience last year when it became accessible for streaming on Peacock and Netflix. The show originally aired on USA from 2011 to 2019 and featured actors such as Gabriel Macht, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, and Meghan Markle, who departed the series after seven seasons to marry Prince Harry.

Amid the rise of streaming platforms, executive producer Gene Klein expressed his openness to the idea of a reboot for the show. He mentioned to TVLine that in today's entertainment landscape, it wouldn't be surprising if a reboot were to be considered in the future, as he noted in July 2023.

When questioned about the potential return of Markle, who portrayed Rachel Zane and is now 42 years old, Klein seemed doubtful. He believed that the possibility of Markle reprising her role as Rachel Zane was unlikely.

Markle shared her thoughts on the series months later during Variety's Power of Women event in November 2023. She expressed her surprise at the show's streaming success, saying, "Isn't that wild?" Markle also mentioned that she had a great time working on the show with a fantastic cast and crew, describing it as "really fun."

Reflecting on the show's popularity, Markle humorously admitted that she had "no idea" why it was such a hit once again. She suggested that the ability to binge-watch many episodes could be a contributing factor, adding, "It's hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days. But good shows are everlasting."

Earlier this year, it was officially announced that a new show called Suits LA is in the works. The show will feature Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who now represents powerful clients in Los Angeles. The cast will also include Bryan Greenberg, Josh McDermitt, and Lex Scott Davis. However, it is unlikely that any original cast members will make an appearance.

During a joint interview with Adams, Macht shared his thoughts on the possibility of some characters returning to the show. He mentioned, "I mean, I think it’s in a world where some characters could in fact come back."

The former costars recently got back together at the Golden Globes and worked on a T-Mobile ad. However, there are no official plans for them to return to their Suits roles. Adams mentioned that he hasn't been approached yet. It seems like they are focusing on creating a spinoff with fresh characters and a brand new storyline.

Editor's P/S:

Patrick J. Adams' enthusiasm for a potential Suits reunion is a testament to the enduring appeal of the legal drama. His willingness to reprise his role as Mike Ross highlights the actors' strong connection to the show and its characters. While a movie adaptation remains a possibility, the focus currently lies on the upcoming spinoff series, Suits: LA.

Adams' acknowledgement of the various factors influencing the outcome suggests that a reunion is not a foregone conclusion. The decision will likely depend on the availability of the cast, the creative direction of the project, and the overall reception to the spinoff. However, the renewed interest in Suits and the positive responses from fans and cast members alike indicate that the possibility of a reunion remains tantalizingly close.
