Top Gun 3 is reportedly in development at Paramount, with the sequel to Top Gun: Maverick said to have been in the works since late fall. Sources indicate that Maverick director Joe Kosinski is set to return to helm the project, with co-writer Ehren Kruger working on the screenplay. Paramount hopes to bring back Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Glen Powell for the film, although Cruise recently signed a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. according to Variety.
Teller revealed in July 2022 that he had discussed Top Gun 3 with Cruise, but ultimately the decision was in Cruise's hands. Teller played Goose's son Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw in Maverick, while Powell portrayed Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin. Powell is also attached to Twisters, another major sequel. Kosinski had mentioned last year that Cruise initially didn't want to make a Top Gun sequel, especially after the original director's death, but Maverick ended up being Cruise's first film to reach $1 billion worldwide.
