Paramore’s Hayley Williams is taking a break from touring due to an ongoing lung infection.
Williams, 34, expressed in an Instagram statement on Thursday, August 10, that due to a lung infection, she had to reschedule 4 shows. Hoping that a week-long break from performing and adhering strictly to her medication regimen would facilitate her body's healing process, Williams now acknowledges that her condition has surpassed the point where she can push through and deliver a satisfactory performance for her audience.
"I am now putting my health at risk and it is crucial for me to listen to my body. Sadly, we have to cancel our upcoming shows in Portland and Salt Lake City. Those who have purchased tickets can obtain refunds at the place of purchase."
Concluding her statement, Williams extended her apologies to fans who have been impacted by the prior postponements and recent cancellations of the This Is Why Tour. "I am physically unable to continue," she clarified. "I understand that this is disappointing for everyone. Thank you very much for your ongoing support."

Numerous supporters expressed their unwavering support for Williams in the comments section, with one user stating, "At this moment, your well-being is our utmost concern." Another devoted fan shared, "For many of us, we'd prefer to see you fully recover and safeguard your future rather than jeopardize yourself for the sake of a concert. And anyone who tries to guilt her or the band into feeling disappointed can take a hike."
The North American arena tour started on May 23, following the opening for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in March. The band performed in prominent cities like New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Austin, and Seattle, and concluded with shows in Oregon and Utah.
Paramore's website reveals that they are slated to appear at The New Yorker Festival in October, and then head to Australia, France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the U.K., Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Austria. It remains uncertain if Williams' infection will impact the international concerts.
Williams made the announcement a few days after Steph Curry, an iconic figure in the local area, joined her on stage during Paramore's show on Monday, August 7, in San Francisco. Curry, who is a member of the Golden State Warriors basketball team, was 35 years old at the time.
Addressing the crowd, Williams stated, "In approximately 60 seconds, someone from the audience will join us on this stage to help us complete the song." She further explained, "When I mention someone from the audience, it could be someone you know, but I am unsure. Let's find out, shall we? San Francisco, please give a warm welcome to No. 30, Mr. Steph Curry!"
She stated that the band and Curry have a longstanding history, and tonight marks our reunion. She further emphasized that once Steph takes the microphone, it transforms into a Steph Curry show rather than just a Paramore performance.
