Overwatch 2 Unveils Game-Changing Sombra Rework and Exciting Route 66 Upgrades for Thrilling Season 7

Blizzard has recently revealed the long-awaited Sombra rework for Overwatch 2, which will be implemented on October 10 with the launch of Season 7. While Blizzard had previously hinted at a Sombra rework, details regarding the specific changes were not provided.

This is not the first time that Blizzard has made significant adjustments to Overwatch 2's beloved hacker. In the past, Sombra's invisibility was time-limited, but Blizzard later altered it, allowing her to remain invisible indefinitely. The upcoming rework is expected to have a similarly transformative impact, requiring Overwatch 2 players to approach the character in a new way.

Overwatch 2 Sombra Rework

Overwatch 2 Season 7, set to launch on October 10, will introduce several changes for Sombra, the popular hero shooter character. Her Opportunist passive will be replaced by the Stealth ability, which will become a passive that activates when Sombra is not engaged in combat or using her abilities. Furthermore, the Translocator will provide instantaneous teleportation upon deployment. Another new addition is the Virus ability, which inflicts damage over time. This damage can be amplified and accelerated if used on a hacked enemy. Blizzard has also hinted at additional adjustments to Sombra's Machine Pistol, Hack, and EMP, but specifics have yet to be revealed at this time.

Further hero balance adjustments are slated to be implemented in the upcoming Overwatch 2 Season 7 update. Among the significant modifications, Mei's Deep Chill passive will be removed, and Zarya's Projectile Barrier will no longer generate Ultimate charge as quickly, although its cooldown will still be reduced. Furthermore, adjustments will be made to Orisa, Ramattra, Wrecking Ball, Cassidy, Torbjorn, Brigitte, and Illari for improved game balance. Additionally, the highly anticipated Roadhog revamp will be introduced in Season 7, although it will not be accessible until later in the season.

With the Season 7 update, Overwatch 2 is not only making changes to its heroes but also improving the Route 66 Escort map for attackers by providing better protection from spawn to the first checkpoint. Additionally, Season 7 will bring a crossover event with Diablo 4 featuring a limited-time mode and a new Lilith Moira skin. The debut of the Samoa Control Map, the return of the Halloween Terror map, and the introduction of a fresh Battle Pass will also be part of Overwatch 2 Season 7. Fans can expect to be kept busy until BlizzCon on November 3, where they will discover details about the new Tank hero arriving in Season 8.
