Blizzard has added the Hero Mastery mode to Overwatch 2, allowing players to complete challenges and master the skills of various heroes on the roster.
Despite the delay of the Hero Mastery mode, Overwatch 2's Season 6 introduced a significant update comprising of fresh heroes, game modes, and PvE story missions. Alongside this, players can now delve into the single-player Hero Mastery mode and eagerly anticipate the upcoming Anniversary event, where they will be treated to limited-time modes, returning skins, and thrilling special challenges.
Blizzard has recently introduced the Hero Mastery mode to Overwatch 2 through the game's latest update. This new game mode allows players to complete challenges using different heroes from the roster. It serves as a way for players to enhance their understanding of each hero's skills and ultimately master them, as the mode's name implies.
Initially, the Hero Mastery mode was supposed to be included in the grand Season 6 launch of Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, Blizzard had to postpone its release. However, Season 6 still delivered an abundance of content, making it the most substantial update since the game's original early access launch in 2022. The update featured the addition of the new Support hero Ilari, the introduction of the Flashpoint game mode, and the debut of the game's first PvE story missions.
For Overwatch 2 players who have exhausted the story content and seek new non-PvP experiences, the Hero Mastery mode presents an enticing opportunity. This single-player mode, complete with leaderboards, offers a refreshing challenge. Each hero in Overwatch 2's roster can be played at three different difficulty levels, all with the objective of achieving a five-star rating. At launch, players can dive into Hero Mastery with Mercy, Reinhardt, and Tracer, while the addition of Sojourn and Winston is expected later in the season.
Overwatch 2 Season 6 not only brings Hero Mastery, but also a highly anticipated Anniversary celebration. Starting September 19, players can enjoy limited-time modes such as Battle for Olympus, Catch-A-Mari, Starwatch, and Mischief and Magic. Additionally, there will be Legendary skins available for purchase with Overwatch Credits, which can be earned through special Anniversary challenges.
Following the Anniversary event, Overwatch 2 will likely bring back its Halloween Terror seasonal event in October. This event traditionally features new Halloween-themed skins and the return of game modes like Junkenstein's Revenge. While surprises may be in store, fans will have to wait for more information. In the meantime, they can explore the game's latest update and mark their calendars for the start of the Anniversary event on September 19.
Overwatch 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
