In Season 6 of Overwatch 2, several hero adjustments have been revealed. Lifeweaver's Tree of Life ability will receive a buff, while Kiriko's Protection Suzu will be nerfed. Additionally, Cassidy's Magnetic Grenade ability will have its range nerfed, while Mercy's damage boost will be increased.
The Invasion update for Overwatch 2 is on its way, bringing with it PvE story missions, the player progression system, hero adjustments, and two Flashpoint maps. Blizzard has confirmed that Season 6 will be the game's largest content release to date, with the addition of a new support hero to shake up the meta.
In a recent blog post, it has been confirmed by Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller that changes will be made to the abilities of several support heroes in the upcoming season. Notably, both Kiriko and Mercy will experience adjustments to their powers. Kiriko's Healing Ability, Protection Suzu, will now provide a reduced amount of healing and also grant an additional burst of healing when it removes a negative effect on allies. Furthermore, Mercy's damage boost will be decreased from 30 percent to 25 percent, which appears to be a modification aimed at reducing the offensive potential of the angelic hero.
Overwatch 2's Lifeweaver will receive significant buffs, including increased health from Rejuvenating Dash and the conversion of Tree of Life's healing into Overhealth for allies. On the other hand, Cassidy's Magnetic Grenade will be nerfed with a shortened range and a fixed duration of 1.5 seconds. Kiriko and Mercy have long been fan favorites, contributing to team success through their versatile abilities such as mobility, utility, and high healing. Nonetheless, the release of the Overwatch 2 Invasion update on August 10 may lead to a decrease in their popularity within the fandom.
Mercy in Overwatch 2 has sparked ongoing debates due to her ability to greatly empower heroes. As an introductory hero focused on healing, her damage boost has the potential to completely alter the outcome of matches. Despite not being an area-of-effect healer, Mercy's mobility and offensive capabilities make her a versatile addition to various team compositions. On the other hand, Kiriko stands as one of the top support heroes, equipping players with all the necessary tools to achieve dominance in matches. The community's reaction to these changes in support heroes will certainly be intriguing with the upcoming Invasion update on August 10.
Early access for Overwatch 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
