The 2023 Summer Games event has kicked off in Overwatch 2. During this event, players can participate in a new game mode, collect complimentary cosmetics, and purchase summer-inspired skins from the in-game store.
The Summer Games is an annual in-game event in Overwatch 2 that takes inspiration from the vibrant season of summer. It combines elements of summer vacation and the Olympics, offering players a diverse range of exclusive cosmetics and engaging activities each year.
The Overwatch 2 event in 2023 will feature a unique addition to the Summer Games. The main attraction is the Tropical Doomfist Epic skin, which can be obtained by completing challenges in Overwatch 2. In addition to this exclusive skin and the On Vacation Victory Pose, players can also earn various sprays, player icons, and charms, as well as gain valuable experience towards the Battle Pass through these challenges.
Introducing Winston's Beach Volleyball, a new arcade mode that will be introduced in the Overwatch 2 Summer Games this year. Similar to Lucioball, this 3v3 challenge requires players to engage in a thrilling match of beach volleyball. Participants will serve a giant volleyball across the sandy battlefield, aiming to make a powerful spike on their opponent's side of the field. The first team to reach a score of 10 points in this mode will emerge victorious.
Lucioball will be making a comeback during the Summer Games event. All three Lucioball maps will be included in the rotation, along with the new Lucioball Remix mode that features multiple balls at once. Many of the Summer Games challenges in Overwatch 2 can be completed in Winston's Beach Volleyball or Lucioball, so players are encouraged to try out these game modes.
As always, the event will offer a variety of new and returning Summer Games skins in the shop. One exciting addition is Mercy's Lifeguard skin, which is sure to impress. Additionally, there will be a Baywatch-inspired Rescue Run Highlight Intro. Players can get their hands on these skins and participate in the event until it ends on July 24th.
The main menu of the game now includes a new event UI for Overwatch 2. This updated interface complements the existing one in the Challenges section by displaying character progress, event duration, and convenient links to access the necessary game modes. It is hoped that Overwatch 2 will continue to utilize and enhance this stylish new feature in upcoming game events. Overwatch 2 can be played on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
