The Artistic Tribute to Cassidy's Deadeye Ultimate
A talented Overwatch 2 fan illustrated the game's gun-toting cowboy Cassidy attempting to do his Deadeye Ultimate in gorgeous pixel art form. The creative piece was praised by fellow fans and even inspired some clever jokes.
Overwatch 2 is known for its large pool of playable characters that each have special skills and abilities. Among the popular Blizzard Entertainment hero shooter's most recognizable personalities is Cassidy, the law enforcing bounty hunter who can quickly dispatch enemies with his ultimate, Deadeye. This special move has gained notoriety ever since the original Overwatch due to its ability to deal massive amounts of damage within a short period of time and also because of the skill's accompanying 'It's High Noon' voice line.
A fan has taken it upon themself to further memorialize Overwatch 2 Cassidy's powerful ultimate move Deadeye by recreating it in pixel art form. Reddit user cheese_beef's recent submission on the r/Overwatch subreddit showed Cassidy ready to whip out his Peacekeeper revolver while a strong glint emanates from one of the Overwatch agent's eyes. 'It's past your bed time...' read cheese_beef's caption, seemingly a play on Cassidy's ''It's High Noon' phrase. Several community members praised the pixel artwork and called it amazing, but many more drew inspiration from it to crack a few jokes. 'It's half past six,' one Redditor commented. 'Top 10 moments before disaster,' another one wrote.

The Memorable 'It's High Noon' Phenomenon
Part of Deadeye's elevation to an iconic meme can be attributed to the impeccable delivery of the 'It's High Noon' voice line by Overwatch 2 Cassidy voice actor Matthew Mercer. A renowned American voice actor and popular content creator for his role in the hit Dungeons & Dragons web series Critical Role, Mercer often dropped the 'It's High Noon' line when he played Overwatch in the past. He also says the phrase even when producing content not related to the FPS series, which could have played a part in further spreading Cassidy's popularity.
Mercer's character could be at risk of losing everything that made him iconic, however, as Blizzard Entertainment is eyeing a rework for Cassidy. In a recent stream, Overwatch 2 game producer Kenny Hudson and lead hero designer Alec Dawson mentioned they were unhappy with the cowboy’s skills and were considering some changes. Details regarding those changes were not revealed, but a full-blown rework of Cassidy could arrive next year.
Exciting Developments for Cassidy in Overwatch 2
Until then, Cassidy mains still have time to enjoy their favorite cowboy hero's current kit. Those who want to deck out their Cassidy with new cosmetics will be glad to know that the game's Winter Fair Event Pass, which arrived with the hero shooter's Winter Wonderland 2023 holiday event, includes a new Formalwear Legendary skin for the Overwatch 2 agent.
