Danielle and Adam Busby, stars of the TV show OutDaughtered, recently spoke about the special difficulties they face in parenting due to Danielle's ongoing battle with an autoimmune disease.
“I used to experience dizziness and fainting when going upstairs,” Danielle, 39, revealed exclusively to We on Monday, July 10, as she promoted the premiere of OutDaughtered's ninth season. “This was never a usual occurrence for me. I have always been active and physically fit, and we have always taken good care of ourselves. So it was quite alarming to see my body deteriorate so dramatically.”
After the birth of their quintuplets - Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley, and Parker - in 2015, Danielle began to notice something amiss. Prior to this, Danielle and Adam had experienced infertility challenges, first attempting to conceive through IVF before Blayke, their oldest daughter, was born in 2011. Seeking alternative options, Danielle turned to Femara, a prescription that enhances fertility for individuals with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which ultimately resulted in her first pregnancy.
After deciding to grow their family once more, Danielle resumed taking Femara, resulting in her pregnancy with quintuplets.
"Following their birth, my body never fully recuperated as it constantly endured ceaseless activity. For years, I lived a life fueled by adrenaline," Danielle conveyed. "So when my body finally began to relent and they were attending school and kindergarten — actually, by the time they reached first grade — my body struggled to adapt. Consequently, I experienced a state of shock."

Danielle's physician officially diagnosed her with migraines and she received treatment for fibromyalgia due to the muscular tension and inflammation she experienced. However, Danielle shared with Us that her condition is still being explored, as she has both good and bad days.
"It's often difficult to even explain how I'm feeling or how my body is reacting to certain things, even to Adam, because he'll say, 'You look fine, you were fine yesterday,'" Danielle explained. "It's frustrating and there are days when I haven't done anything out of the ordinary and yet I wake up unable to move my hands and feet. It's a fluctuating journey."
Adam, aged 41, expressed that it is challenging to witness his wife's difficulties with her condition. However, he continues to provide support and strive to fulfill all of Danielle's needs. Adam emphasized the unpredictable nature of autoimmune disorders, as they are characterized by unknown triggers and uncertain flare-ups. One day, Danielle may appear completely healthy, while the next she may struggle to even leave her bed.
Danielle proudly mentioned to Us that she had not experienced a migraine since Monday, which was approximately six months ago.
Following a two-year break, OutDaughtered has made a comeback, renewing the Busby family's festivities. The family has been featured on the TLC series since its first season in 2016.
"We seamlessly resumed right from where we had left," Adam exclaimed about their comeback on the reality series. "It evoked a sense of nostalgia and it was delightful to reunite with the crew members who also returned this season, as they are akin to our own family."
Catch the premiere of Season 9 of OutDaughtered on TLC, Tuesday, July 11, at 9 pm ET.
