It is the first time a J-pop artist has broken into the TOP50 section of the list, while also achieving the highest rank a J-pop artist has ever received on the chart.
"Idol" achieved high rankings on multiple Apple Music 2023 charts, landing in 2nd place on the 2023 Top Songs 100: Japan and 7th on the 2023 Top Songs 100: Global. Additionally, it claimed the top spot on the 2023 Top Songs 100: Sing, which measures the most played songs using the Apple Music Sing function worldwide for the year. In Taiwan, the song reached second place on KKBOX’s Top 10 Most Played Japanese Singles in 2023.
YOASAOBI and "Idol" finished the year with a spectacular performance of the song at NHK’s 84th “Red and White Song Contest.” The Red Team, led by YOASOBI, emerged as the winner of the contest, earning over 10 million views for their performance of "Idol" at the event.
