Ruby's aspiration to become an idol has been a fundamental aspect of her persona from the start of the series. However, Aqua's journey into the world of acting has often overshadowed Ruby's own pursuits as he focuses on unraveling the mystery behind his mother's untimely demise. Compounding the issue is the challenge of finding other aspiring idols to join Ruby, as she cannot make her debut solo.
With the recent addition of Kana and MEM-cho to the new B-Komachi's lineup, Ruby is now able to embark on her journey towards achieving her long-cherished dream of becoming an idol. However, there are still several important tasks that need to be accomplished before the trio can officially establish themselves as a bona fide idol group, such as organizing captivating performances and reaching a consensus on who will take the center position.
The Third Member
Aqua wastes no time in introducing MEM-cho to Miyako, who is amazed by MEM's vast fan base and exceptional social media expertise. However, Miyako senses that MEM-cho is concealing something and accurately suspects that she is dishonest about her age. Miyako reassures MEM-cho that embellishing one's age is a common practice in the industry. Nonetheless, Miyako is taken aback when she discovers that MEM is actually 25 years old. MEM-cho discloses that in her younger years, she aspired to become an idol herself. Unfortunately, she had to abandon her dreams when her mother fell ill, forcing her to care for her family. MEM-cho dedicated years of her life to supporting her loved ones. Eventually, when she had the opportunity to pursue her passion, she was already 23 years old, surpassing the age limit set by most idol companies. Consequently, she turned to live streaming and adopted the sarcastic persona of a high schooler, a label that stuck with her.
MEM-cho reluctantly accepts that the offer to join B-Komachi might no longer be available since she has disclosed her true age. However, Ruby and Kana, driven by their sympathy towards her, assert that she should still be allowed to join. Miyako, who never stated that she would reject MEM-cho, renews her invitation, and MEM-cho joyfully agrees. Overwhelmed with happiness at the realization of her long-awaited dream, MEM-cho sheds tears of joy. Recognizing the responsibility, Aqua requests Kana to look after the group, but Kana dismisses him, revealing her lingering resentment towards the kiss shared with Akane.
Time To Practice
At school, Ruby discusses LoveNow's success with her classmates Minami Kotobuki and Frill Shiranui. They are amazed by Aqua's growing popularity since his appearance on the show. Ruby mentions that B-Komachi's popularity has also been boosted by the dating show, especially with MEM-cho joining their activities. With MEM's fans contributing to their YouTube channel, it easily reaches 10,000 subscribers. MEM suggests that the group practices B-Komachi's old songs, and the three of them enthusiastically begin idol training. MEM-cho and Ruby are thrilled to be engaged in real idol practice, but Kana is more hesitant. To make matters worse, she remains on bad terms with Aqua, and her strong rejection is even affecting his usual cold composure.
As the girls practice, Aqua meets with Kaburagi, who had promised to share information about Ai. Despite Kaburagi's attempts to dissuade him, warning that it may shatter his perception of her, Aqua remains determined. Eventually, Kaburagi relents and reveals details about Ai's past: she was unfriendly, poorly dressed, and seemed devoid of emotions. In an effort to help her break out of her shell, Kaburagi suggested that she attend a workshop at Lala Lai, the same theater group that Akane is involved in. Following her participation in the workshop, Ai underwent a sudden transformation, becoming more outgoing and expressing curiosity about various places. Kaburagi assumes that it was during this time that she must have fallen in love. Additionally, Kaburagi offers Aqua an opportunity to meet the leader of Lala Lai, believing that there is potential for investment. He also expresses interest in supporting the efforts of the new B-Komachi, recognizing the group's value.
Who's The Center?
Kaburagi's support comes in the form of a spot at the Japan Idol Festival, a highly sought-after opportunity for aspiring idol groups. Despite the event being just a month away, Kana initially hesitates. However, Ruby and MEM-cho are determined not to let this chance slip away. As the girls discuss who should take on the center position, which is essentially the star of the group, Ruby and MEM-cho express their interest. On the other hand, Kana, despite having prior experience with a popular exercise song in her childhood, declines. She believes that her rough personality and inconsistent popularity would make her an unfit choice for the center position, unlike the other girls who possess a more widespread appeal.
Ruby notices that Kana has been feeling down lately, although she can't pinpoint the exact cause. Internally, Kana can't stop obsessing over Aqua's relationship with Akane, which intensifies her feelings of inadequacy. Despite their efforts, Ruby and MEM-cho are unable to uplift her spirits. They decide to go to karaoke to settle the center position once and for all, but both of them turn out to be terrible singers. In an attempt to relax, they choose to sing one of Kana's songs, only to discover that she has actually released more songs than they had previously realized. As they listen to one of her tracks, they come to the realization that she is a phenomenal singer, making her the ideal center for their group.
