Olivia Wilde Sparks Controversy with Her Bold Take on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Romance

Olivia Wilde wasn’t trying to stir up any bad blood with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce when she commented on their blossoming romance. 

"I didn't mean any harm," Wilde, 38, said to photographers on Monday, October 16, as captured in a video obtained by the Daily Mail. "It's a clear statement about the excessive focus on trivial matters."

Earlier this month, Wilde gained attention when she shared a tweet on her Instagram Story that read, "I wish Taylor Swift was in love with a climate scientist." The actress, who has a shared past with Swift through their mutual ex Harry Styles, didn't offer any personal input. However, the original author of the message, Katja Herbers, added, "Taylor would join her scientist at an end fossil fuels rally, and the world would be saved."

Swift, 33, has proven to have a significant influence on her fans. Following her support for Kelce in September, his jersey sales reportedly skyrocketed by 400%. Additionally, after urging her followers on Instagram to be prepared for the next presidential election, an astonishing 35,000 people registered to vote in the U.S.

The pop star appears unfazed by the attention surrounding her relationship with the athlete. She was initially linked to Kelce, 34, in July when he expressed his regret at not being able to meet her after her Eras Tour show. Two months later, Swift surprised everyone by showing up to cheer him on at Arrowhead Stadium during his game against the Chicago Bears. She has since attended two more games.

Swift and Kelce have been seen together on multiple occasions, including making appearances on the October 14 episode of Saturday Night Live. After their appearances, they were spotted holding hands outside the Catch Steakhouse in New York City and later attending the SNL afterparty. They were also seen enjoying another cozy date night in NYC on October 16.

Although Swift has not publicly commented on their relationship, a source exclusively revealed to We earlier this month that their respective friend groups believe there is a strong connection between them. The insider mentioned that they are supportive of each other and enjoy their independence, which is comfortable for both of them. Friends think that Swift and Kelce are a perfect match.

Travis, on the other hand, hinted at a desire for a more discreet approach as their bond deepens.

"I understand that I drew a lot of attention to myself. I'm the one who...made a big deal about the friendship bracelet and publicly expressed my disappointment about not meeting Taylor [at the Eras Tour]," he shared on his "New Heights" podcast in September, recalling a July incident where he mentioned Swift and his attempt to give her his number. "What's important is that this is my personal life and I value the privacy of both of us."

However, Travis couldn't help but praise the Grammy winner after witnessing her reaction to his performance. During a recent episode of "New Heights," Travis shared with his brother, Jason Kelce, that he was impressed by the positive feedback she received from everyone in the suite. He also mentioned how amazing she looked and the excitement among the Chiefs Kingdom when she attended the game. It was a memorable experience for Travis.

Before her relationship with Travis, Swift had a brief fling with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy following her split from Joe Alwyn in April. They were together for almost six years before deciding to end things. Swift also had an on-and-off relationship with Styles from 2012 to 2014, and it is rumored that her fifth studio album, 1989, draws heavily from their romance. Fans can anticipate the release of the rerecorded version of the album, titled 1989 (Taylor’s Version), on October 27.

Wilde, on her side, was in a relationship with Styles for almost two years until their split in November 2022. In the previous month, she reached an agreement in her custody dispute with her former fiancé Jason Sudeikis, with whom she has two children; nine-year-old son Otis and six-year-old daughter Daisy.
