Nintendo Switch Online has added three new classic titles: Castlevania Legends, Devil World, and The Mysterious Murasame Castle.
Previously inaccessible or with limited releases outside of Japan and Europe, these games provide a fresh gaming experience for numerous North American players. The inclusion of these games highlights Nintendo Switch Online's continuous endeavors to broaden its collection and deliver exclusive content to its subscribers.
Nintendo recently expanded its Nintendo Switch Online game catalog with three new titles: Castlevania Legends, Devil World, and The Mysterious Murasame Castle. Initially, the paid subscription service for the portable console received mixed reviews, and the release of the Expansion Pack in October 2021 raised further questions about its value, considering the addition of Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games for a yearly fee of $50.
However, in the following years, Nintendo Switch Online has consistently updated the Expansion Pack by introducing new games and making Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles accessible on the platform. Subscribers can also enjoy downloadable bonus content, with the most notable being the Animal Crossing New Horizons: Happy Home Paradise DLC. Additionally, free game trials are available, and exclusive icons were provided to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers for a limited time during the launches of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
The subscription service's game catalog receives regular updates. Subscribers to the base tier now have access to Castlevania Legends, The Mysterious Murasame Castle, and Devil World as of October. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack includes the addition of Mario Party 3 for the N64.
NES/Game Boy Games Added to Nintendo Switch Online - October 2023
Castlevania Legends
Devil World
The Mysterious Murasame Castle
Castlevania Legends, originally launched in 1998 exclusively for the original Game Boy in North America, can now be enjoyed by gamers on Nintendo Switch Online. This marks the first opportunity for many to embark on Sonia Belmont's journey to conquer Count Dracula.
Leading game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, known for creating iconic franchises such as Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Pikmin, directed the NES title Devil World. With its inclusion on Nintendo Switch Online, North American gamers will have a chance to experience this game for the first time, as it was previously only available in Japan and Europe. Devil World is a captivating maze game that echoes elements of Pac-Man, where players assume the role of a green dragon navigating different levels while dodging enemies and collecting power-ups like crosses and Bibles to enhance their fire breath.
Originally released on the Famicom Disk System in 1986, The Mysterious Murasame Castle later made its way to the Game Boy Advance. However, it was not available outside of Japan until 2014, thanks to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. This game became the second original title to be released for the Disk System, following The Legend of Zelda. While its graphics and gameplay closely resemble its predecessor, it also incorporates elements that will be recognizable to fans of Mario. Players assume the role of Takamaru, who embarks on a quest to defeat the main antagonist within various castles, rescuing princesses to gain extra lives and discovering raccoon suits for power-ups along the journey.

These new additions to the Nintendo Switch Online library are a great way for Nintendo to keep its fans engaged with the platform. By adding new games on a regular basis, Nintendo is giving its subscribers a reason to keep coming back for more.
