There are no official plans for The Nightmare Before Christmas 2 – and it seems unlikely to ever happen.

During a recent interview with Empire Magazine, creator Tim Burton stated that he hopes a sequel to the Halloween-turned-Christmas movie will never materialize.
"I have worked on sequels, other projects, reboots, and all of that stuff, you know? I don't want that for this. It's great that people might be interested in another one, but I'm not," he expressed.
"I feel like the old man who owns a small piece of land and refuses to sell to the large power plant that wants to take over my property."
Danny Elfman has shared similar sentiments, telling ComicBook.com: "I don't think so. I think Tim has always felt that no, this is what it was. But you know, it wouldn't totally surprise me if he came back with a fresh perspective. If he had a new vision for it, I would definitely go for the ride with him. But he's never shown any interest in that.
"I think he believed that this was a pure thing and it was what it was, and that attempting to create sequels wouldn't inspire him. But I will never speak for Tim. It's his universe."
Director Henry Selick has also expressed his agreement, stating to People: "I believe Tim, in particular, sees no need to interfere with that. He definitely doesn't require a sequel for financial gain. He has enjoyed numerous other triumphs, and thus far, no one has proposed a truly outstanding concept for a sequel. Ultimately, it is up to Tim to decide. I don't think there's any idea that could sway him."
"It is a flawless film that emerged at the opportune moment, only to evolve into something much larger over the years."
Is there a Nightmare Before Christmas 2 release date?

As a fan of "The Nightmare Before Christmas", I have mixed feelings about the possibility of a sequel. On one hand, I understand the desire to revisit the beloved characters and explore their world further. The original movie is a classic and it would be exciting to see what new adventures Jack Skellington and the residents of Halloween Town could get into.
On the other hand, I also appreciate the fact that the original movie is a complete and satisfying story. It doesn't need a sequel to validate its existence. In fact, I worry that a sequel could potentially tarnish the legacy of the original.
Ultimately, I would be open to a sequel if it was done right. But I would also be content if the original movie was left as is. It's a perfect film that doesn't need to be tampered with.
