Nicolas Cage, a movie star with over 100 film credits, is considering a new direction in his career. In an interview with Uproxx, published Monday, the Oscar-winning actor expressed his feeling that he has said all he needs to say through cinema. "I feel like I've pretty much said what I've had to say with cinema," Cage stated. "I would say, Adios. I did what I had to do with cinema and I want to move on now," he later added.
Currently appearing in "Dream Scenario," Cage is set to appear in four more film projects. He expressed hope for a post-film career that would enable him to transition into a different form of acting expression.
"I am very interested in immersive streaming and episodic television. I have seen the potential for characters to express themselves over time in ways that were not possible before," he said.
Cage's credentials have enabled him to delve into "the fringes of film performance" across all genres, but he believes he has exhausted all there is to learn in cinema. As a self-proclaimed student, Cage is eager for more.
"He mentioned that he could learn a thing or two from television," he stated.
Although Cage is tempted by the idea of a format change, the 59-year-old also desires to dedicate more meaningful time to his family, which includes his newborn daughter from his marriage to Riko Shibata.
Cage emphasized, "My top priority is my children. I hope to find a steady episodic show that allows us to stay in one place so we can be together. This would be great on a personal level." Check out "Dream Scenario" in theaters now.
