Ashanti made one of her boyfriend Nelly's childhood dreams come true on his 49th birthday by gifting him his dream car.
"Ashanti was eagerly anticipating Nelly's birthday so she could surprise him with the car," a source exclusively reveals to We. "She had been meticulously planning this surprise for months, and although it was challenging to keep it a secret, witnessing his reaction made every effort worthwhile."
Nelly, who turned 49 on Thursday, November 2, received a surprise gift from Ashanti - a vintage 1962 Impala. The gesture left him in shock and overflowing with emotion, as this car had always been his childhood dream. Nelly couldn't believe that Ashanti had given him such a thoughtful present, considering it to be one of the best presents he has ever received.
After reconnecting earlier this year, the couple is now "better than ever." They believe that the time they spent apart has allowed them to mature emotionally and figure out what they truly want in a relationship.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., expressed his excitement about his dream car on Instagram on November 1. Alongside photos of himself and the singer Ashanti, he wrote, "Sometimes all you can say is 'Thank You.' Best gift I've ever received, apart from my kids!!!! You really went all out! Love you @ashanti."
Nelly and Ashanti had an on-again, off-again relationship from 2003 to 2013. In a 2015 interview with Meredith Vieira, Ashanti mentioned that she felt "betrayed" by the singer of "Hot in Here."

In April, rumors of reconciliation were ignited when the two were seen holding hands at a Las Vegas boxing match. Their reunion continued in August with a cozy video shared by Nelly on his Instagram Story, showing them singing along to Usher's “Nice & Slow”.
Nelly officially affirmed their renewed relationship the next month during an interview with Philo TV's Boss Moves with Rasheed. He casually stated, "Yeah, we're cool again. I think it surprised both of us though. It wasn't something that I believe was premeditated."
