Warning: The content below contains spoilers from episode 5 of Nancy Drew season 4. Unfortunately, episode 5 of Nancy Drew season 4 continued to debunk the possibility of Nancy and Ace breaking their cursed bond. However, the mystery deepened for the Drew Crew when they stumbled upon a peculiar set of teeth. The season began with Nancy's search for missing bodies from a cemetery, only to discover that these eight corpses had come back to life, wandering around Horseshoe Bay at night and contaminating the town's water supply with a black sludge. After the events of the season 4 premiere, the mystery became even more intricate.
Some individuals who consumed the contaminated water regained memories of heinous crimes they had committed, such as murder and concealing assaults. As the others joined Nancy in her investigation, they unraveled that the forgotten memories were connected to the enigmatic Black Door. This led to episode 5 of Nancy Drew season 4, where Bess accidentally stepped on a tooth.
7 Missing Teeth Led To An Intriguing Artifact In Nancy Drew Season 4
After discovering the secrets of the Black Door in episode 4 of Nancy Drew season 4, the Drew Crew realized the importance of understanding the reanimated bodies in episode 5. In order to gather more information, Nancy, Bess, George, Nick, and Ace revisited the woods where they initially came across the corpses in episode 1. Unfortunately, Bess accidentally stepped on one of the bodies' teeth with her barefoot. However, this mishap led to a surprising discovery - strange occult symbols were engraved on the tooth. To further investigate, they consulted Connor, the coroner, who informed them that all the zombie teeth bore the same three characters.
This revelation was already bizarre, but the situation took an even stranger turn when Connor revealed that the symbols had grown into the teeth themselves. With the assistance of George's father, Edwin, a dentist who had been absent from her life, Nancy explored further and made an intriguing connection. It turned out that the peculiar symbol was not limited to the eight bodies in Horseshoe Bay. Skulls from the 1500s, stored in a mysterious back room at a research university, also boasted the same symbols. Additionally, a valuable artifact known as Cadfan's Roundel held the key to understanding the cause of death for these corpses. However, the Roundel had been stolen, leaving its whereabouts unknown. Fortunately, unknown to Nancy, she possessed knowledge of someone who could help her locate it.
6 Ryan Is A Relic Hunter
In Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5, Nancy discovered that a relic hunter she contacted was none other than her father, Ryan. Surprisingly, Ryan had been masquerading as a consultant, concealing his true profession that he stumbled upon after a confrontation with the dangerous Glasses. It became evident that Nancy's determination and passion had influenced Ryan, leading him to find a job he loved and excelled in.
Although initially upset about her father's secret occupation, Nancy and Ryan's bond had grown significantly since the first season, making their safety a mutual concern. However, Nancy understood the drive to pursue one's passion despite the accompanying risks better than anyone. Consequently, she put her concerns aside and accepted Ryan's assistance in locating the Roundel in Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5.
5 Horseshoe Bay's Water Supply Was Shut Down
In Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5, Nick took on the responsibility of safeguarding Horseshoe Bay's water supply to prevent any further poisonings. As a dedicated council member, Nick's unwavering commitment to the town is evident and he is poised to accomplish remarkable feats as the show progresses. It is hopeful that by the series finale, Nick will have assumed a prominent role in Horseshoe Bay, potentially even as the mayor.
To accomplish his goal, Nick enlisted the assistance of Bess and Ace, devising a scheme to dye the water supply red. This forced the town to drain the water and sparked concern among the residents who feared contamination. Consequently, Nick successfully resolved the water crisis in Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5. However, the possibility of encountering further challenges, such as the appearance of black sludge, remains in future episodes.
4 George Reconnected With Her Father In Nancy Drew
George and her father had a strained relationship during their last encounter in Nancy Drew. However, Edwin was determined to prove his commitment to being a part of his daughter's life by assisting her and her friends with a peculiar dental issue. Initially, George maintained her guard against Edwin, but as time went on, she began to lower her emotional barriers. Edwin consistently showed up for George, demonstrating his remorse through actions rather than words for not being there for her in her upbringing. As Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5 concluded, George was prepared to reintegrate her father into her life. Furthermore, the $30,000 contribution towards her sisters' college funds undoubtedly worked in Edwin's favor.
3 Bess Helped George Raise Money For Her College Classes
As for George's tuition money for her law classes, Bess stepped in to assist her friend in Nancy Drew season 4, episode 5. To raise funds for George, she took charge and organized a highly successful singles night at The Claw. While Bess genuinely wanted to offer support to George, she also sought an escape from Chief Lovett's preoccupations with the Historical Society's supernatural endeavors. Additionally, Bess held a firm belief that the singles night would provide the perfect distraction and solace for Nancy following her heartrending split from Ace (little did she know how mistaken she was).
2 Nancy & Ace Agreed To See Other People
After avoiding each other in Nancy Drew season 4, episode 4, Nancy and Ace were inevitably forced to confront one another in episode 5. However, their dynamic shifted from that of friends to mere colleagues, as they grappled with the aftermath of sharing what Nancy considered to be the most unforgettable kiss of their lives. Numerous uncomfortable encounters later, Nancy and Ace finally engaged in an authentic conversation towards the end of the episode.
Nancy couldn't comprehend Ace's readiness to relinquish the idea of breaking the curse, despite his purported love for her. Ace clarified that true love entailed desiring the happiness (and survival) of the other person, even if that happiness was found with someone else. Consequently, Nancy and Ace finally obtained a semblance of closure and mutually agreed to embark on the journey of moving forward. However, given that Ace proclaimed Nancy as the love of his life and Nancy referred to their connection as a "great love," it would be arduous for them to accept that their destinies do not entail being together in Nancy Drew.
1 The Drew Crew Found A Terrifying Creature In Nancy Drew Season 4
After the emotional confrontation between Nancy and Ace in episode 5 of season 4 of Nancy Drew, the writers had a final surprise in store for the audience. Following their use of the Roundel, obtained from a mysterious individual named RedLynx789, Nancy, George, and Bess were initially met with smoke, which Nancy unintentionally inhaled (be on the lookout for any potential side effects). However, the Roundel simply required some time to take effect. Eventually, it began to shake vigorously before opening up to reveal a hidden compass.
The relic guided the Drew Crew to Dunlap Beach, where they discovered an extremely unsettling creature unlike anything ever witnessed on the CW series. Despite its human-like form, the being exhibited none of the characteristics of a normal human. It was devoid of eyes, completely naked, and possessed a circular mouth brimming with razor-sharp teeth. While the monster invoked similarities to the Demogorgon from Stranger Things, it sported a distinctively diverse head shape.
Currently, both the characters within the show and the audience are only aware that this enigmatic creature is responsible for the occult concealments and the deaths of the eight bodies. However, the true nature of the creature, its origins, and its purpose in Horseshoe Bay remain unknown. With eight episodes remaining in Nancy Drew season 4, there is ample opportunity for the Drew Crew to unravel this perplexing case.
