Greg Tarzan Davis recently opened up about his involvement in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, expressing his panic over a stunt in the film. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the highly anticipated installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise is set to premiere on July 12. The movie follows the adventures of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team as they embark on a mission to locate a dangerous weapon. Prior to its release, numerous thrilling action sequences have already been teased. Alongside Cruise and Davis, the star-studded cast of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Esai Morales, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and more.
Known for its impressive stunt work, the Mission: Impossible series was a topic of discussion during Davis' recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. The actor delved into his experience filming a particular scene, highlighting the fact that he performed the stunt without a double. Davis shared that he was taken aback by the fact that his co-star Shea Whigham was actually driving the vehicle during the scene. Filled with anxiety about the sequence, Davis even resorted to texting his mother. Check out Davis' comments on his daring stunt in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One below.
So, I find myself in the car with Shea Whigham, sitting in the passenger seat. Initially, I had expected a professional stunt driver to be present, but it turns out that Tom doesn't hire stunt people. I'm not really sure why. Instead, we are tasked with doing everything ourselves. Shea takes the wheel, and I notice two cameras mounted on the front of the hood, as well as another camera on the side of the window. I sit there, a bit apprehensive, thinking that the stunt man will join us any moment. However, Shea announces, "Alright, we're about to start driving."
At this point, I am taken aback. I ask him, "Why? Why would you do this? Why would you—no, you're Shea. You're definitely not skilled at driving... I wouldn't even trust you on an average day, so why are we attempting this on the chaotic streets of Rome, surrounded by people and cars?" In that moment, I remember reaching out to my mother, expressing my love, and apologizing for any wrongs I've committed. I ask for her forgiveness, but sadly, she hasn't responded to my message. Perhaps she thought I was joking. I couldn't help but remind her, "If something were to go wrong, you would have been devastated!"
