On December 6, 2023, well-known My Hero Academia series leaker @RukasuMHA (Rukasu) shared exciting news on Twitter about the manga series. According to Rukasu's leaked information, the upcoming schedule for the manga will involve alternating between release weeks and breaks for the next few weeks. This schedule is expected to continue until the end of December 2023 and the beginning of January 2024. Despite the frequent breaks, it seems that most of them are due to Weekly Shonen Jump breaks rather than series breaks, although fans may initially blame Horikoshi for the interruptions.
My Hero Academia’s imminent frequent breaks are the fault of Santa Claus and Shueisha rather than Horikoshi
Recently, this correlation can be attributed to the upcoming Christmas holiday, a period that Shueisha usually takes into account when adjusting the release schedule and timing for Weekly Shonen Jump. The publication of Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga is dependent on Shueisha's determinations for when to distribute their Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.
Based on Rukasu’s update on My Hero Academia’s release schedule, fans can expect to enjoy two additional chapters within the next five weeks. The series will go on hiatus next week in the third issue of Weekly Shonen Jump for the 2024 year. However, it will make a comeback with Chapter 410 the following week before Shueisha takes a publication break in the subsequent week (three weeks from the time of this article’s writing).
Shueisha will take a break after releasing the 411th chapter of the series, followed by another publication break. Readers can expect the series to return to its regular publication schedule roughly halfway through January 2024.
The release schedule may appear unusual, but it is typical for Weekly Shonen Jump at this time of year. The Christmas holiday, New Year, and the Jump Festa convention all occur within this five-week period, creating a chaotic month-plus for Shueisha. Given this, the current release schedule for Horikoshi’s manga and its magazine becomes more understandable.
Unfortunately, this timing is not ideal as the series alternates between release and break weeks at a crucial point in the story. The end seems to be approaching with each chapter, setting up a climactic conclusion. The next five weeks will be tough for fans as this exciting section of the story progresses at a slower pace. Nonetheless, My Hero Academia's release schedule should return to normal by late January 2024.
Be sure to keep up with all anime, manga, film, and live-action news as 2023 progresses.

As a Gen Z netizen and a big fan of the My Hero Academia manga, I'm both excited and disappointed about the news of regular hiatuses starting in December 2023. On the one hand, I understand that the creator, Horikoshi, needs to take breaks to maintain his health and ensure the quality of the manga. I'm also aware that the holiday season and Jump Festa convention can disrupt the usual release schedule.
On the other hand, I'm disappointed that the manga will be on hiatus during such a crucial point in the story. The end seems to be approaching, and I'm eager to see how the series concludes. The frequent breaks will make it harder to stay invested in the story and maintain the same level of excitement. I hope that the hiatuses will be as short as possible and that the manga will return to its regular schedule soon.
