Mind-Blowing Xbox Exclusive Horror Game Makes an Epic Leap to Thrilling New Heights on PS5

Breaking boundaries, a once Xbox-exclusive horror game sets sail to the PS5, embracing a new era of multiplatform gaming With a fervent following yearning for more, this thrilling title aims to captivate a wider audience, transcending its cult status

Scorn, the beloved cult classic of Xbox/PC, will now be available on the PlayStation 5. This exciting announcement follows speculations about a potential release on this platform.

Famous for its captivating post-apocalyptic biopunk setting and captivating art style influenced by H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski, Scorn was created by Serbian studio Ebb Software. Initially, it was exclusively released on Microsoft platforms around Halloween in 2022. The game garnered a mixed to positive response from critics, with players bombarding it with negative reviews. While the presentation and puzzle-solving aspects were praised, the combat was criticized for breaking immersion, being unnecessary, and dull. Nevertheless, Sony believes that with a wider audience, the overall rating may improve.

A new trailer confirming the Scorn port for PlayStation 5 this fall has been released on the official PlayStation YouTube channel. The trailer showcases various Acts of the game, transitioning from establishing shots to gameplay footage of the protagonist using weapons for self-defense. It includes clips of the player exploring labyrinths, battling grotesque enemies, and navigating unstable landscapes. The trailer concludes with the game's title and release window. Additionally, a glimpse of the physical Deluxe Edition is shown at the end, which includes a copy of Scorn, a steelbook case, a digital artbook, and the game's orchestral soundtrack. It is unclear if there are any significant changes in this new version, although it is possible that bug fixes and checkpoint revisions from Version 1.1.8.0 have been incorporated. Despite the PlayStation 5's more advanced hardware, the graphics appear similar to the original, suggesting minimal coding changes.

The reception in the comments was equally divided as it was among gaming critics, with similar complaints about the combat and puzzles. Additionally, some users expressed complete disdain for the game. Expanding Scorn to more platforms will unlikely have a significant impact on its critical consensus, particularly because the PS5 release will not have access to various mods that enhance the gameplay. Currently, Scorn is accessible on PC and Xbox Series X/S, and a version for PS5 is expected to be released in Fall 2023.
