Immediately following his public criticism of Everton manager Sean Dyche on Instagram, the 27-year-old has made the surprising decision to depart from the club. In his post, he expressed his gratitude towards the supportive Everton fans, yet lamented the challenge of playing under a manager who he feels does not demonstrate the necessary respect for him as an individual.
Dyche addressed the issue in an interview on Everton's website, stating that Gray had shown disinterest in training and being a part of the team. Having joined from Bayer Leverkusen, the Jamaican player had a tenure of slightly more than two years with the Toffees, during which he managed to score 12 goals in 75 appearances across various competitions.
Everton has confirmed the permanent transfer of Demarai Gray to Al-Ettifaq. The 27-year-old forward has been sold to the Saudi Arabian club, marking the end of his two-year tenure at Everton after joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.
"Gray made 75 appearances and scored 12 goals for Everton. The Jamaica international started his career with hometown club Birmingham City before joining Leicester City in 2016."
