The upcoming game, Alan Wake 2, will feature two main characters: the iconic Alan Wake and the newly introduced FBI detective, Saga Anderson. With a gameplay duration exceeding 20 hours, it will be one of the most extensive creations from Remedy Entertainment. Additionally, PS5 and Xbox Series X players can enjoy an enhanced gaming experience with the inclusion of a Performance Mode.

Alan Wake 2 is set to receive extensive post-launch support, with both free and paid DLC offerings. The announcement, made at EGX, reveals that players can expect the True Detective-inspired sequel to provide long-lasting entertainment.

Originally released in 2010, Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake received widespread critical acclaim. Now, over ten years later, the team is at last working on a follow-up. Alan Wake 2 will feature two main characters, with the return of renowned thriller writer Alan Wake and the introduction of a new character, FBI detective Saga Anderson.

Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy Entertainment, recently discussed the future of Alan Wake 2 in an onstage EGX interview. He revealed that there will be free DLC drops after the game's release, which will have a significant impact. Additionally, there will be two paid expansions called Night Springs and Lake House. Although not many details were provided about the upcoming DLC, Lake assured gamers that more information will be shared shortly after Alan Wake 2 launches at the end of October.

These announcements are incredibly exciting for fans of the franchise. Prior to this, gamers were already aware that Alan Wake 2 would offer a substantial amount of content compared to its predecessor. Remedy stated that the game will exceed 20 hours in length, making it one of the studio's longest-developed games, and that's without considering the paid DLC. For reference, the main story of Control lasts between 10 and 12 hours, while the original Alan Wake would take around 11 hours to complete if players solely focused on the main storyline, according to HowLongtoBeat. Therefore, not only will the game be twice the size of its predecessor, but it will also receive significant post-launch support through DLC.

Remedy Entertainment is gradually revealing more information about Alan Wake 2, which is set to be released soon. One noteworthy detail is the inclusion of a Performance Mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Initially, the game was being developed with a targeted frame rate of 30 FPS. However, due to popular demand, the developers have decided to offer the option to unlock 60 FPS at the expense of slightly lower resolution. Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
