WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Secret Invasion episode 3. One theory could better explain why the Avengers are disregarding Gravik's threat to Earth. In Secret Invasion, renegade Skrulls intent on infiltrating Earth and making it their new home emerge. Leading the group is Gravik, a Skrull who grew disillusioned with Talos' leadership and Fury's departure from Earth. Gravik took matters into his own hands by threatening to exterminate humanity and claim Earth as the Skrulls' new homeland. Strangely, The Avengers have not acknowledged any of the Skrull attacks, despite their role as Earth's defenders.
The Skrull Resistance in Secret Invasion also included G'iah, Talos' daughter, who lost faith in her father's search for a new home. She joined New Skrullos and assisted Gravik in his mission, but secretly worked as a double agent alongside her father to undermine the rebels. However, Gravik soon uncovered her betrayal and seemingly killed G'iah at the end of Secret Invasion episode three. Even with an explanation within the story of why Nick Fury hasn't called upon The Avengers, their disregard for the threat posed by Gravik still remains puzzling. Nonetheless, a theory regarding G'iah's future in the MCU could provide a justifiable reason for the super team's absence in this situation.
Marvel Revealed G’iah Isn't Dead In Secret Invasion
Characters in the MCU have demonstrated that death is not always final, and it appears that this may be the case for G’iah as well. Despite the recent permanent death of a major character, it seems unlikely that G’iah would meet the same fate so soon afterwards. Furthermore, Marvel has released trailer footage featuring Emilia Clarke's character, G’iah, in scenes that have not yet been shown in the show.
While it is true that Marvel often includes footage in trailers that does not make it into the final project, the nature of the G’iah clips suggests otherwise. In the trailer, she is shown investigating what appears to be a Skrull base, a plot point that seems too significant for Marvel to fabricate. While it is possible that the clips could be flashbacks, it seems more probable that they hint at a larger story for G’iah even after her supposed demise.
Theory: G'iah Is The MCU's Second Super-Skrull
In Secret Invasion episode 3, Gravik introduces the MCU's version of Marvel's Super-Skrulls. These Super-Skrulls are an enhanced version of the already powerful race, although their full capabilities have not been fully explored yet. In episode two, G’iah discovers the Super-Skrull laboratory and decides to investigate the DNA samples that Gravik has collected. These samples include well-known characters such as Groot, Frost Beast, and Cull Obsidian. Gravik is considered the first Super-Skrull, but there is a possibility that G’iah may already be the second.
In a yet-to-be-seen footage from the Secret Invasion trailer, G’iah can be seen obtaining the Super-Skrull powers from a machine. This suggests that she may have sneaked into the laboratory at some point between her initial investigation and her involvement in stopping the missile attack. It is possible that G’iah allowed Gravik to shoot her as a strategic move to distract him and ensure her freedom. This would also explain her seemingly reckless behavior leading up to her death. G’iah knew that she would heal from the wound, and with Gravik preoccupied elsewhere, she could assist Fury and her father without interference.
Super-Skrull G'iah Solves The Missing Avengers Problem
The Skrulls pose a formidable threat with their shape-shifting abilities, and the addition of Super-Skrulls only amplifies their power. Samuel L Jackson's Fury has warned against involving the Avengers, fearing that the Skrull rebels could steal their powers. However, facing Gravik's army of Super-Skrulls will undoubtedly prove to be a challenging battle for Fury alone. Nevertheless, the presence of Super-Skrull G’iah offers a glimmer of hope for Fury and Talos, as her alliance could potentially tip the scales in their favor without the need for the Avengers.
In a surprising turn of events, G’iah's demise in the third episode of Secret Invasion was unexpected, considering the trailer's glimpses of her unseen footage. Marvel's apparent spoiler hints at G’iah's possible return as a Super-Skrull, granting her the freedom to defy Gravik's control. The Avengers have disregarded Gravik's menace thus far, presenting Fury and Talos with a challenging journey ahead. However, the addition of Super-Skrull G’iah to their side suddenly makes their Secret Invasion fight all the more feasible.
