Warning: Some SPOILERS lie ahead for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania & Loki season 2!
Summary
Director Kasra Farahani advises against making a connection between the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Loki season 2. Due to conflicting filming schedules, the possibility of an Ant-Man crossover in Loki season 2 appears unlikely.
Scott Lang's potential crossover with Tom Hiddleston's Loki may be reserved for upcoming projects such as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. While the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hints at a connection with the Council of Kangs, director Kasra Farahani advises caution in speculating about its link to Loki season 2. In the 2023 installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kang the Conqueror was introduced as the main antagonist of The Multiverse Saga, following the appearance of He Who Remains in season 1 of Loki. The movie went a step further by revealing the Council of Kangs in its post-credits scene, where various variants of Kang plan a multiversal conflict after Ant-Man's victory over the Kang he encounters.
Our website had an exclusive interview with Farahani to discuss Loki season 2, episode 3, "1893", in light of the recent episode. When asked about the connection between the post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the new season, as well as her involvement in the movie's production, the director's response was vague. She hinted that the decision to include a scene from episode 3 as a post-credits scene was made after the entire show had been filmed. Here's what Farahani explained:
"Well, what I can say is that we filmed this scene prior to it being considered for use as a post-credit scene. The decision to include it came later."
Could Loki Season 2 Feature An Ant-Man Crossover?
Audiences always eagerly anticipate finding Easter eggs, direct references, or cameos from other projects in the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since its premiere, Loki has not disappointed in this regard. Fans of the superhero franchise have long desired a reunion between Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Chris Hemsworth's Thor, especially after the characters reconciled in Thor: Ragnarok before Loki's demise in Avengers: Infinity War. However, the impact of this reunion may be less significant considering Loki's history of faking his own death.
Although the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania directly ties into Loki season 2, many wonder if Paul Rudd's Ant-Man could appear in the MCU show. Due to the fact that the third Ant-Man film was filmed almost a year prior to the new season, there is no overlapping schedule that would allow for a crossover between the two. Furthermore, as mentioned by Farahani, Marvel made the decision to include a scene from the new season in the movie's post-credits scenes retroactively, suggesting that a crossover is even more unlikely.
It is possible for Rudd's Scott Lang to appear in Loki season 2 if someone at the TVA learns of his victory over Kang and seeks his assistance. This crossover could be more feasible in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, where Scott's previous encounter would be helpful to the multiple heroes from different universes. Although both projects were filmed before Marvel's recent changes, it is still possible for Rudd to make a brief appearance to set up the next team-up film.
