A glitch in the game Assassin's Creed Mirage has been discovered by a player, completely altering the perspective and transforming the gameplay. Following the Viking stories in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft now introduces a new storyline in Assassin's Creed Mirage, featuring a familiar character.
The protagonist in Assassin's Creed Mirage is Basim Ibn Ishaq, who was first introduced in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. However, in Mirage, Basim is depicted as a 17-year-old, and the events of the game take place 20 years before those in Valhalla. Compared to other Assassin's Creed games, Mirage is relatively shorter and focuses on Basim's life during the 9th century in Baghdad. Guided by the enigmatic organization called the Hidden Ones, players witness Basim's journey as he transforms into a skilled and deadly assassin, equipped with various armor, outfits, and abilities.
Reddit user SplashDMG126 has discovered a camera glitch in Assassin's Creed Mirage that transforms the game into an isometric experience. In a video clip, Basim can be seen traversing rooftops in the game's mission, with the glitch causing the camera distance to be extended. As a result, Basim is fully visible from a distance, showcasing his jumping and acrobatic skills. The glitch also provides a wider view of the city and its unaware residents. Unlike the usual close-up camera perspective found in Assassin's Creed Mirage, this glitch resembles the top-down viewpoint typically seen in isometric games.
In response to the glitch, players in the comments expressed their amazement. One player asked if the glitch could be reproduced, to which a Redditor replied that it was a field of view (FOV) glitch. Another player mentioned that the glitch reminded them of the spin-off game Assassin's Creed Chronicles, which is set in various countries such as China, India, and Russia. The comments also made references to Prince of Persia and the Middle Eastern levels in Crash Bandicoot Warped. SplashDMG126 further noted that the glitch brought to mind Seven: The Days Long Gone, an isometric RPG with strong similarities to the Assassin's Creed series.
Ubisoft continues to ride the wave of success following the impressive sales of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The latest addition to the franchise, Assassin's Creed Mirage, has not only received high praise but has also achieved remarkable sales figures. In fact, it has become Ubisoft's top-selling release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Despite its overwhelming popularity, Ubisoft appears to have no intentions of introducing any additional content for Assassin's Creed Mirage, as they seem content with maintaining its more intimate scale. Assassin's Creed Mirage can be enjoyed on various platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
