Millie Bobby Brown has chosen her Stranger Things costar Matthew Modine to officiate her wedding to Jake Bongiovi.

Modine, 65, shared on Access Daily that he has the authority to marry people and was asked by Millie and Jake to officiate their wedding. He wrote the wedding vows for them, which they both loved, and will be guiding them as they join hands in marriage.

Brown has experience officiating weddings, having done it once before during Covid in upstate New York. He finds it a beautiful thing to join two people in holy matrimony.

Modine, who has been happily married to his wife, Caridad Rivera, for 44 years, believes that it is truly amazing when a marriage works out well.

Brown, who is 20 years old, has been acting alongside Modine on the popular Netflix show since 2016. In the series, she portrays Eleven, a girl with special powers who was being studied by Dr. Brenner (played by Modine) at a laboratory in Hawkins, Indiana. Eventually, Eleven manages to escape from the lab. Throughout the show, she affectionately refers to Dr. Brenner as “Papa.”

Brown and Bongiovi started dating in 2021 after meeting on social media. Two years later, she shared the news of their engagement on Instagram.

In April 2023, she shared a black-and-white photo with a diamond ring on her left hand, captioned with lyrics from Taylor Swift's "Lover." She expressed her love, saying, "I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all."

Five months later, a source revealed exclusively to We that Millie and Jake are overjoyed and excited to spend their lives together. They are on cloud nine and feel incredibly grateful for the future ahead.

Brown shared more details about how Bongiovi, who is 21 years old, proposed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He admitted that the underwater proposal almost didn't go as planned.

Jake Bongiovi and Millie Bobby Brown, pictured above, enjoyed an early morning dive at a beloved spot. During the dive, Bongiovi surprised Brown by proposing. Brown shared the sweet moment with host Jimmy Fallon, recalling how they were deep underwater when Bongiovi presented her with a shell that contained a ring.

After she agreed, Bongiovi attempted to present her with the ring. She shared, "As I tried to show it to him, the ring slipped off my finger and dropped so quickly, it felt like a scene from a movie."

Bongiovi acted swiftly to rectify the situation. Laughing, she recounted how her fiancé, Jake, dove deep to catch the falling ring, despite warnings about the dangers of diving too deeply. She jokingly described it as a "cinematic grab" for the jewelry.

"He opened his hand and saved the ring," she exclaimed. "It represents who he is, and I feel like we will always support each other. If one of us makes a mistake, the other will be there to pick up the slack."

The Godzilla King of Monsters joked that Bongiovi's mom had warned him not to propose underwater. She had told him, "I know you'll drop it."

Fortunately, the ring he used for the proposal was not Brown's mother's ring, which she had received earlier when they came out of the water. "When we got back on the boat, he said, 'This is your mom's ring and I got it from your parents,'" she remembered. "It was a very special moment, his parents were there, and we looked quite messy after the dive."
