The series kicked off with the premiere episode, "Crimson Is the Sound of Dawn," set in a futuristic Mars where human-assisting androids, called Neans, were prevalent. One such android, Rouge, served as Sarah Fitzgerald's attendant, all the while conducting a covert inquiry into Sarah's potential involvement with the Immortal Nine, a faction of androids with the ability to harm humans.

Rouge initially doubts whether Sarah is an android in the next installment of the series, but her human partner Naomi discovers Sarah injecting herself with nectar, a life-sustaining fluid for androids. Sarah's true identity as Purgatory Viola, a member of the Immortal Nine, is later confirmed through her interaction with Giallon, another member of the group. Sarah had helped Giallon steal a Nectar shipment, hoping to leave her past behind and pursue a singing career in exchange.

Giallon is depicted with his Joker card in Metallic Rouge episode 1, as seen in the image from Studio Bones. However, the Nectar was stolen from Giallon by an android in a mecha suit, known as the Red Gladiator, causing suspicion to fall on Sarah.

Sarah, new to Rouge, grew suspicious of her and decided to confront her. Giallon, unsure of Sarah's skills, tried to take out Rouge first. But Rouge returned in her mecha suit, revealing herself as the Red Gladiator. Giallon fled after guaranteeing Sarah freedom once she handled Rouge.

A intense battle unfolded between Rouge and Sarah, ultimately ending with Rouge emerging as the victor. Throughout the fight, Sarah posed important questions about the differences between humans and Neans and why she didn't have the same right to life as them. The battle concluded with Rouge removing an orb from Sarah's body.
