Ted the Series cast & characters
Watch the Season 1 trailer below to see the story of a rude teddy bear named Ted who lives with 16-year-old John and his family in Massachusetts. Despite not being the best influence on John, Ted is always there for his best friend as a loyal buddy.
Ted – Seth MacFarlane
So, due to the series being a prequel set in a different time period from the movies, there is a completely new cast, with not all of the original movie cast returning. Let's delve into the names of the new cast members that you need to be familiar with.
Peacock
Ted, the main character, is a teddy bear who was brought to life by a young boy's wish. However, that was in the past, and despite initially being seen as extraordinary, a talking teddy bear is no longer a novelty. Now, Ted must navigate through normal life, including attending high school.
John Bennett – Max Burkholder
Seth MacFarlane, renowned for his work on Family Guy and American Dad, reprises his role as Ted. However, it's important to note that MacFarlane only provides the voice for the character, as Ted is actually entirely CGI. Max Burkholder, who also stars in the series, revealed to Dexerto, "Ted is 100% CGI, there was sometimes a puppet that they would use just to line up the camera. But the vast majority of the time that we were acting in a scene with him, it was empty space."
Peacock
The character John, originally portrayed by Mark Wahlberg, Colton Shires, and Bretton Manley in the movies, is now a 16-year-old navigating high school life in the 90s. Alongside his best friend Ted, whom he wished were alive when he was a child, John often finds solutions to his problems by getting high or engaging in occasional ridiculous shenanigans.
Max Burkholder pays this version of John, and also appears in The Purge, Babysitter, and Parenthood.
Cousin Blaire – Giorgia Whigham
Beautiful Peacock
Blaire, John's cousin, is currently leasing a room at the Bennett house while she pursues her college education. As the most politically conscious member of the Bennett family, she strives to criticize her relatives for their frequently unsophisticated and uninformed behavior, although the outcome is not always successful.
Blaire is played by Giorgia Whigham, also seen in Saving Zoe, The Punisher, and What We Found.
Susan Bennett – Alanna Ubach
The character known as Susan Bennett, also known as Helen in the films and played by Alex Borstein in previous productions, is the affectionate matriarch of the family. While some might argue that Susan's love knows no bounds, her unceasing positivity sometimes results in her being taken advantage of by her own family members.
Susan is played by Alanna Ubach, who fans may recognise from Euphoria, Coco, Legally Blonde, and Sister Act 2.
Matty Bennett – Scott Grimes
The patriarch of the family in the movie "Peacock" is Matty Bennett, originally called Steve and played by Ralph Garman. He is portrayed as an overly angry and incompetent figure, often clashing with other family members.
Scott Grimes portrays the character of Matty, recognized for his roles in Critters, American Dad, Oppenheimer, and Band of Brothers. To watch the Ted movies, click here. Explore more of our coverage of the show below.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the upcoming Ted series on Peacock. The original Ted film was a huge hit, and I can't wait to see what the new series has in store. I think it's great that the series is set in the 1990s, as it will be interesting to see how Ted and John navigate their teenage years in a different era. I'm also looking forward to seeing the new cast members, especially Max Burkholder as John and Giorgia Whigham as Blaire. I think they'll bring a lot of energy and humor to the show.
Overall, I have high hopes for the Ted series and I can't wait to see it when it premieres. I think it has the potential to be a really funny and entertaining show that will appeal to a wide audience. I'm also curious to see how the series will explore the relationship between Ted and John, and how they will grow and change over the course of the show. I think it will be interesting to see how their friendship evolves as they get older and face new challenges.
