Sheldon's special bond with Meemaw was formed during The Big Bang Theory, long before June Squibb's portrayal of the character in the show. Even though Mary showed favoritism towards Sheldon among his siblings, he was particularly fond of his maternal grandmother. This relationship served as the basis for their close connection, especially in the earlier seasons of the prequel. However, in recent times, they have grown apart as Meemaw has developed a strong bond with Georgie while running their laundromat and illegal gambling den. The news of Mandy's pregnancy also brought them closer together.

The fact that Meemaw did not rush to help Sheldon in his time of need highlights the deterioration of their relationship. One would expect Connie to be eager to spend time with her grandson after he spent the whole summer abroad. If this is the direction their relationship is heading, it raises questions about why Sheldon had portrayed Meemaw as being very close to him in The Big Bang Theory. Unless they reconnected between the events of Young Sheldon and its parent series, it seems unlikely to believe in that idea.

Sheldon's behavior in his show is shown to be annoying once again in a recent clip, beyond his special bond with Meemaw. Mary had mentioned this in her letters to George, and it looks like this trend will continue in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 4. The question remains whether the show can still redeem Sheldon before it concludes.
