Starting January 24, McDonald's is reintroducing the Double Big Mac nationwide for a limited time, featuring four beef patties instead of the usual two.
In March 2020, McDonalds introduced a special sandwich called the Double Big Mac just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, fast food chains like McDonalds had to reduce operating hours and menu offerings, including the Double Big Mac.
The new Double Big Mac showcases McDonalds' revamp of its classic burger options, featuring softer buns, improved grill settings for a better sear, and enhanced cheese melting. Additionally, Big Macs now come with more sauce.
Limited-time promotions are often used as a way to attract customers who may be considering other options from rival companies. However, there may be additional reasons for this specific promotion.
In a recent interview with CNN, McDonalds CEO Chris Kempczinski mentioned that their customers are looking for larger burgers and that the company is actively addressing that demand. Introducing the Double Big Mac is a convenient way to meet this need without adding extra workload for employees, as it is made using existing ingredients.

McDonalds CEO: Bigger burgers are coming
McDonald's decision to introduce larger burgers comes at a time when many customers are seeking to minimize spending, especially since the pricey McDonald's burger has become a representation of inflation. Despite the larger size of the upcoming burger, it aims to provide great taste at an unbeatable value, according to Kempczinski.
In the past, McDonald's has offered various versions of the Big Mac. In 2017 and 2018, the Grand Mac and the Mac Jr. were introduced. The Grand Mac featured two larger patties on a bigger bun compared to the regular Big Mac.
