Hulu is reportedly in the early stages of developing a reboot of the popular drama series Prison Break. Spanning 90 episodes over the course of 12 years, the show also included a movie and a nine-episode fifth season that served as a limited series and conclusion. However, the upcoming reboot will not include any of the original characters. The reboot will be written and executive produced by Elgin James, the co-creator and showrunner of Mayans M.C., alongside original series creator Paul Scheuring serving as an executive producer. Although described as a "new chapter," the reboot will still be situated in the world of Prison Break.
Prison Break revolves around Lincoln Burrows, wrongly condemned to death, and his brother Michael Scofield, who devises a strategy to aid Lincoln's prison escape. This gripping series achieved immense success, receiving a Golden Globe for Best Television Series Drama upon its debut.
Additionally, Prison Break has expanded its reach beyond television, with adaptations in the form of comics, a manga created by Hikosuke Soyama, and even video games. In January 2018, Fox revealed that Season 6 was in the early stages of development. However, two years later, Fox stated that there were no immediate plans to revive Prison Break once more.
