Mastering Techniques in Tales of Symphonia: A Guide to Skill Changes

Tales of Symphonia, just like the rest of the series, boasts a real-time combat system that allows players to execute regular and special attacks. The special attacks in the Tales series, commonly known as Artes, are referred to as Tech in Tales of Symphonia. To access these techniques and master the combat system, here is a guide on how to use TechHealing Tech at the party.

Players can customize their battle strategies in Tales of Symphonia by utilizing Tech moves, which can be switched out for different attacks and healing abilities as characters level up. Advancement in some skills is dependent on meeting certain conditions, such as performing Lloyd's Sonic Thrust attack 200 times to unlock the Lightning Thrust at level 5.

To unleash their Tech abilities in battle, players can access the menu screen on the field map or while exploring towns and villages in Tales of Symphonia. Using Techs requires the player to press the Circle button on PlayStation, B on Xbox, or A on the Switch, along with the directional buttons. Here are the steps to access Tech:

Press the corresponding button for your gaming console, such as the Triangle button for PlayStation, the Y button for Xbox, or the X button for Nintendo Switch. Then, select the Tech option and press the X button for PlayStation, A button for Xbox, or B button for Switch.

Assign one of Lloyd's abilities to the directional buttons or L2/LT/LZ and R2/RT/RZ, depending on the player's preference for control. For AI-controlled characters, players can access a list of Tech skills and choose to either activate them automatically with the Triangle/Y/X button or disable them altogether.

Healing Tech

In Tales of Symphonia, players can rely on certain characters to perform healing Techs such as the First Aid ability. This skill proves to be extremely useful when the party is in dire need of healing and lacks access to resources such as healing gels or an Inn. To activate First Aid, players must follow a few simple steps:

Press the Triangle button on the PlayStation, the Y button on Xbox, or the X button on the Nintendo Switch. Select a character with the First Aid skill like Kratos.

To heal a character in Tales of Symphonia, simply select the First Aid option and press X/A/B. This same technique applies to other supporting Artes as well. When assigning Techs to a character, such as Lloyd, it's best to experiment with combinations that flow from regular attacks to special moves, creating a customized and natural feel for the long journey ahead in this JRPG.
