Mastering Nyx: Strategies to Defeat the Ultimate Persona 3 Reload Boss

Prepare for the ultimate challenge in Persona 3 Reload as you face off against the formidable Nyx Avatar. This epic battle will test your skills to the limit, so make every move count to emerge victorious in the final showdown.

The true ending of Persona 3 Reload is relatively easy to achieve within the franchise. All that is required is to spare Ryoji on the final day of December and then ascend Tartarus to its peak on the last day of January.

Despite the simplicity of meeting the true ending criteria, the battle against the Nyx Avatar proves to be a challenging ordeal. This final boss fight consists of 14 grueling stages, each requiring the player to contend with a variety of special attacks encountered throughout the Arcana boss battles. Therefore, even a well-equipped party in Persona 3 Reload will need to invest significant time and effort to emerge victorious against Nyx.

When initiating the battle with the Nyx Avatar, they initially align with the Fool Arcana. A mere fraction of damage inflicted triggers their transformation into the Magician Arcana through the utilization of Arcana Shift.

Arcana Shifts occur when Nyx's HP is reduced to 1 by a character's turn. Nyx has the ability to shift multiple times before their designated turn.

Most of Nyx's Arcana forms have 1,500 HP, except for the Fool and Fortune forms. Nyx progresses through the Arcana sequentially until reaching their true form, Death. With each new form, buffs and debuffs are reset, making it more beneficial to focus on buffing the party rather than debuffing Nyx. Additionally, each form possesses unique elemental affinities and special attacks.

Facing Death

In their final form, the Nyx Avatar has no elemental affinities and 7,000 HP. Nyx also gains more points in every stat, including +30 to Endurance, making those 7,000 HP last longer. Additionally, Nyx won't be shifting forms any longer, allowing for the free use of skills like Debilitate. Even in this phase, Nyx only attacks once per turn.

As Death, Nyx has access to several skills they gained from previous Arcana forms.

Nyx's Death form introduces two new skills, with Apocalypse being used on its first turn. This skill reduces every party member's HP to one percent of their total. Additionally, Night Queen deals a substantial amount of Almighty damage and carries a high probability of inflicting a random status ailment.

Keep in mind that the status ailment boost introduced during the Hierophant phase is still in effect. Fortunately, there's a way to end this phase of the fight with a single move. Players who have completed the Persona Compendium (or at least gotten close to it) should have access to their own world-ending skill: the Fusion Spell Armaggedon.

Armageddon deals 9,999 unblockable Almighty damage, even to Nyx, despite having 8,000 HP. Stick with the Fusion Spell Trickery during the Arcana gauntlet as HP damage does not carry over between forms. However, Armageddon can help you end Death instantly.

After defeating the Nyx Avatar, there is additional fighting, but it is more of a cutscene that utilizes game mechanics. Celebrate your victory over Death as it is well-deserved.
