Nightmare Dungeons are crucial in Diablo 4's endgame as they provide both XP and loot. However, farming them efficiently has been a challenge due to the requirement of Sigils to access these maps. As a result, many players have resorted to grinding in standard dungeons instead. Luckily, there is a way to reset Nightmare Dungeons instantly and infinitely in Diablo 4, and this guide will explain how it's done. It's important to note that this strategy only works when playing solo. While there may be a future revision that allows groups to perform a similar trick, players who prefer grinding with friends will need to stick to traditional XP farms in Diablo 4 for now.
Diablo 4: How to Reset Nightmare Dungeons
To endlessly farm a Nightmare Dungeon in Diablo 4, the first step is to obtain a Nightmare Sigil for your preferred dungeon. While this strategy can be applied to any Nightmare Dungeon, selecting the best maps will increase the rate of XP acquisition. Currently, Aldurwood, Blind Burrows, and Champion's Demise are considered some of the top Nightmare Dungeons, but there are other viable options as well.
Additionally, players who wish to optimize their XP gains must ensure that the Nightmare Sigil's Tier is appropriately high. This ensures that the monsters within the dungeon are at least three levels higher than the player's character. This is crucial because the maximum XP bonus is granted for defeating enemies that are three or more levels above the player's character. To determine the necessary Sigil Tier, fans can simply subtract 50 from their Diablo 4 character's level.
After obtaining a suitable Nightmare Sigil, players must use it from the Consumables section of their Inventories to enter the Nightmare Dungeon and complete its first objective. Once that is accomplished, players should move on to any standard dungeon of their choosing and complete its first objective before leaving. This completes the necessary preparations for players to instantly reset Nightmare Dungeons. Returning to the previously entered Nightmare Dungeon, players will find that it has fully reset, allowing for resets at any time by selecting Leave Dungeon from the emote wheel or teleporting to a town. However, players should refrain from fully completing the dungeon until they are ready to stop farming, as resetting becomes impossible once they reach the end.
Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
