Monster Hunter Now, although a smaller mobile version of the mainline Monster Hunter games, still offers the intricacies of the crafting system and the need to obtain specific parts to enhance gear. While Monster Hunter players have always had the freedom to target and break off monster parts, the mobile game incorporates an automatic lock-on system.

Initially, players do not have access to the ability to lock on to monsters in Monster Hunter Now. However, this feature can be unlocked early on to aid in battles against formidable creatures with substantial health bars. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on obtaining and utilizing the lock-on ability within the game.

How To Unlock The Lock On Ability

To acquire the Kulu Headpiece, players must craft an armor piece that can be worn on the head, granting the ability to target and track monsters. Subsequently, they need to enhance the piece to reach level five. The initial tier, Grade 1, necessitates obtaining the following materials:

- 2 Kulu-Ya-Ku Hide

2 Monster Bone S

10 Zenny

Defeat the Kulu-Ya-Ku large monsters on the map to obtain Kulu-Ya-Ku Hide. Tap on the bone resource icons within the area to find Monster Bone S. If there are no nearby bone spots or Kulu-Ya-Ku, players can explore outside their initial play area.

Unlock the lock-on ability by obtaining the Kulu Headpiece Grade 2. Upgrade the headpiece to level five using additional Kulu-Ya-Ku parts, resources, and Zenny. Craft and equip the Grade 2 headpiece after defeating more Kulu-Ya-Ku in battles.

After crafting and upgrading the Kulu Headpiece to Grade 2, players will have a new feature available during future monster fights. A Lock On icon will appear on the lower right section of the battle screen, positioned above the first aid health potion icon.

By tapping on the Lock On icon, all the different parts of the monsters will be highlighted on the screen. Players can then choose which specific part their character should target and attack, as it will be marked by a red circular target. The character will maintain focus on that particular monster part while executing attacks or using special skills until the Lock On icon is tapped again. At that point, the player character will be able to attack freely.

Monster Hunter Now is now available for Android and iOS devices.
