Rapid Fire, a standout ability in Diablo 4, boasts unparalleled single-target damage, making it a formidable weapon against elite enemies and bosses. However, its limited AOE range can make it challenging to utilize in the early stages, particularly when players lack the necessary equipment.

As players progress through the latter half of Diablo 4, Rapid Fire becomes an invaluable tool that can swiftly and effortlessly clear all content. With the right gear and effects in place, this skill transforms into a highly versatile option that can effectively combat any adversary at any level. Here's an optimal endgame set up for Rapid Fire.

With the Improved Rapid Fire upgrade, players can rely on the skill to use less Energy. In fact, it becomes somewhat self-sufficient in this regard. Once the Exploit Glyph is obtained on the Paragon Board, players can even run this build without a Basic Skill. However, until then, it is recommended to use Fundamental Puncture to manage Energy costs.

The primary defensive skill of the build is Concealment, which not only breaks stuns and grants Unstoppable but also enables players to escape unfavorable situations. Moreover, the Countering upgrade ensures a guaranteed Critical Strike with the Rogue's next attack. Additionally, the build incorporates Poison and Shadow Imbuement to enhance the damage dealt by Rapid Fire's bursts. While Shadow serves as the primary source of AOE damage, Poison aids in swiftly taking down bosses and elites.

Cap off your build with the inclusion of Poison Trap, which provides valuable Crowd Control and a chance to reset Imbuement skills upon activation. Additionally, the Rogue's critical hit statistics are boosted thanks to a passive node within the skill tree.

In numerous ranged Rogue builds, this setup is considered standard. However, the unique aspect of this particular build is the emphasis placed on investing additional points into Imbuement and Trap passives, as these abilities hold significant importance. Should a player find themselves struggling to endure, swapping Concussive for Sturdy may prove beneficial.

The Key Passive that is most preferred is Precision, as it complements the Critical Strike Chance that the build obtains from both skills and items. Every Rapid Fire arrow that crits will contribute to the stack counter of Precision, and once stacks are at maximum capacity, each arrow from the following Rapid Fire burst will critically strike with increased damage.

The Combo Points specialization is a valuable asset when facing tough enemies like elites and bosses as it can significantly increase the damage output of Rapid Fire. It may not be necessary to use it against regular mobs, but even just one point in this specialization can make a noticeable difference in overall DPS.

Prioritizing repetition is crucial for maximizing the effectiveness of Rapid Fire. By allowing shots to bounce off multiple enemies, the weakness against groups is eliminated. Additionally, the ricocheted shots will apply any active Imbuement skill, making it easier to spread Shadow infection.

In addition to repetition, players should also prioritize Accelerating on their Amulet. With frequent critical hits, this Aspect will be active most of the time and drastically increase Rapid Fire's damage output. To address any potential energy issues, consider pairing Accelerating with a resource Aspect such as Umbral or Ravenous.

Players may opt for Toxic Alchemist or Bursting Venom instead of Aspect of Arrow Storms to increase Poison procs. While the defensive Aspects mentioned are beneficial for all builds, Eluding can be a useful addition for those facing issues with CC.

Crossbows are the weapon of choice in this build, as they offer implicit Vulnerable Damage rolls that are highly desirable. One-handed weapons are not important for this build, so prioritize stats that align with the list below:

For optimal gameplay, begin by equipping the Combat skill on the Starting Board. Next, prioritize selecting Cunning Stratagem for both the Dominant and Finisher nodes, along with its Glyph Socket. This will allow for the effective use of Exploit, which can be slotted into the Glyph Socket.

Afterward, head to the nearest Attachment Gate and acquire Deadly Ambush for its bonuses against trapped targets. Players can then choose to obtain the offensive Rare nodes available at the gate or proceed to the Exploit Weakness board. Opting for the latter will increase damage dealt to Vulnerable targets and grant access to the Hunter Killer node, which simplifies the elimination of elites.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S.
