Master the Art of Affix Rerolling in Diablo 4 and Unlock Unparalleled Power

A costliest misfortune strikes a Diablo 4 player as they squander a fortune of over a million gold on a single item enchantment, only to be met with affixes that further deepen their frustration

Enchanting in Diablo 4 is a risky endeavor that can quickly drain players' wealth in the pursuit of desirable attributes. One Necromancer, in particular, lost over 100 million gold without any significant gains. Although there are some tips and tricks to reroll stats without spending a fortune, Enchanting remains the most costly venture at World Tiers 3 and above. With only a limited number of attributes that truly benefit characters across all Diablo 4 classes, players not only find it highly recommended to Enchant their gear for maximum power but are essentially required to do so.

While chasing after ultra-rare Uniques may not be essential for a player's build, fine-tuning the stats on a well-rolled Rare item can greatly enhance its power. The most sought-after stats in Diablo 4 include Skill Ranks, Critical Strike Chance, Damage to Vulnerable Enemies, and Attack Speed. Given the multitude of skills in the game, it can take time to obtain the desired affix, and unfortunately, unfortunate luck often results in players wasting large amounts of gold on unsuccessful Enchanting attempts.

Airman4nba, a Necromancer, shared their unfortunate experience on the Diablo 4 subreddit. Their sole objective was to change the +2 Ranks of Corpse Tendrils on a Rare pair of boots into a more beneficial attribute. However, not only did they fail to achieve an upgrade, but they were also dealt a harsh blow when the final roll presented them with only two options: +2 Ranks of Corpse Tendrils and +2 Ranks of Corpse Tendrils. This resulted in a substantial loss of two-thirds of the player's wealth, all in pursuit of enhancing a single Rare item in Diablo 4.

Typically, fans consider items unusable after four or five attempts at improvement. In comparison, the Enchanting system at the Mystic in Diablo 3 is much more forgiving. Although having money sinks to maintain the game's economy is crucial, Diablo 4's current version lacks a robust trade system. As players reach the endgame, many feel that the cost of utilizing the Occultist's service is excessively high and unbalanced.

The start of Diablo 4's inaugural season is scheduled for mid-June, leaving little room for Blizzard to make substantial alterations to Enchanting costs or affix rerolls. While players have managed to cope with the current system, it is clear that Enchanting is merely tolerated rather than genuinely enjoyed. This is an important consideration for Blizzard developers. Diablo 4 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
