Speeding Up Egg Hatching in Pokemon
In Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, you now have the opportunity to catch the Grass-type starter Pokemon, Chespin. Once fully evolved, Chespin becomes Chesnaught and gains the Grass/Fighting typing. While not as widely favored as Froakie and Fennekin, the Chespin evolution line boasts a wide range of TM moves, providing versatility in battles.
How to Catch Chespin (& Its Evolutions) in Scarlet/Violet
How to Add a Chespin to Your Team in Pokemon Scarlet/VioletTo add a Chespin to your team in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, you have a couple of options. Firstly, you can participate in a 7-star Raid or seek assistance from Pokemon HOME and Pokemon GO. If you're eager to have a Chespin right from the beginning of your journey, you'll need to transfer one from Pokemon GO. However, if you're willing to wait, it is recommended to complete the main story and post game of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet before adding Chespin to your team.
Chespin and its evolutions cannot be found in the fields or mountains of Paldea. While they are now compatible with Scarlet/Violet, they have not been introduced in the main game yet. It is possible that they will be added in the Teal Mask & Indigo Disk expansion, but this remains uncertain. Currently, there are three methods to acquire Chespin, Quilladin, and Chesnaught:
Transferring from GO to HOME
Trading
7-Star Tera Raid (Chesnaught)
Catch Chespin in Pokemon GO (Transfer with Pokemon HOME)
Both Pokemon GO and Pokemon HOME can be downloaded for free. To transfer Pokemon from GO to HOME, players must have the HOME app installed on their Nintendo Switch and link their HOME account on GO. The following steps should be taken on Pokemon GO:
Tap the Poke Ball icon on the main screen.
Select the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Scroll down to Connected Devices and Services and select Pokemon HOME.
Enter the Pokemon HOME account info to link it to GO.
If GO trainers wish to transfer Pokemon, they must first follow steps 1-3 and then choose the "Send Pokemon" option. As long as players possess sufficient GO Transport Energy, they can send an unlimited number of Pokemon. It is important to consider that each Pokemon requires varying levels of Transport Energy.
However, it is crucial to note that Event Pokemon and Shadow Pokemon cannot be transferred to HOME. Examples of Event Pokemon include the New Year's Pikachu and the Holiday Spheal.
Chespin is more commonly found during Sunny or Clear Weather, with a higher chance of encountering it in the spring or summer compared to the fall or winter. Occasionally, Niantic organizes "Spotlight Hour" events where certain Pokemon, including Chespin, appear more frequently in the wild regardless of weather conditions.
Scarlet/Violet players can access basic features of Pokemon HOME without a subscription. However, they are limited to using only one Basic Box to store their Pokemon in HOME.
Once Chespin has been sent to HOME, open the HOME app on the Switch.
Select the GO icon on the menu to receive Pokemon.
Choose Pokemon, then select Scarlet (or Violet).
Pick up Chespin with Y-button (or A-button) from the Basic Box, and move him to a free space in one of S/V's PC Boxes.
Press + to Save and Exit.
Once players start up Scarlet/Violet, they can check their Boxes from the menu (X-button) and Chespin can be found wherever it was placed.
Trade Pokemon
To disable Auto-Renewal:
Go into the Nintendo EShop and select the User Icon at the top of the screen.
Select Nintendo Switch Online.
Choose the Terminate Automatic Renewal under Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership.
Here's how to trade in Scarlet/Violet:
Start up Scarlet/Violet and pause the game with X-button.
Turn on wireless connection by tapping L-button.
Choose Poke Portal and select Link Trade. By selecting Link Trade, players have the option to either Start Searching or Set a Link Code. If players have a specific person they want to trade with, they can exchange Link Codes.
Pick a Pokemon to trade for Chespin, Quilladin, or Chesnaught.
Catch Chesnaught in 7-Star Tera Raid
The Rock Tera Type Chesnaught made a recent appearance in a 7-Star Tera Raid, taking place from June 16 to June 18. However, players will have to wait to see if it will return after the end of this month. To participate in a 7-Star Tera Raid, players must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully complete the main storylines, including "Victory Road," "Path of Legends," "Starfall Street," and "The Way Home."
Participate in the Academy Ace Tournament's post-game.
The Poke Portal grants access to the 7-Star Teraids. If players have not fulfilled the prerequisites for these raids, they can only join by obtaining a Link Code from another player. Otherwise, they must finish the game to unlock these challenging quests.
How to Get Chespin Eggs
Players can obtain additional Chespin through GO-HOME transfer, trading, or by breeding. Should players desire a Chespin that matches their Trainer ID, they will need to either breed it or capture the 7-Star Tera Raid Chesnaught.
Similar to most Pokemon, Chespin and its evolutions are able to breed with a Ditto. This method is generally considered easier for acquiring Chespin Eggs, as it does not necessitate any specific requirements.
To obtain Chespin Eggs through breeding, you can pair a female Chespin with a male Pokemon from the same Egg Group. Chespin belongs to the Field Egg Group, which allows compatibility with certain Pokemon such as Diglett and Dugtrio, as well as Numel and Camerupt.
Zangoose
Rockruff & Lycanroc
In Scarlet/Violet, there are no Pokemon Nurseries or Daycares available for trainers to leave their Pokemon. However, obtaining Pokemon Eggs is made simpler in SV by setting up a Picnic. By creating a sandwich with the Egg Power meal effect, such as the Great Peanut Butter Sandwich, the chances of obtaining Eggs are increased.
To maximize the probability of receiving Eggs, it is recommended to have only Chespin and Ditto in the party, or alternatively, a female Chespin and a male Pokemon from the Field Egg Group.
Open the menu with X-button and select Picnic.
Approach the picnic table and press A-button, and choose Make a Sandwich.
Create a sandwich with the Egg Power meal capability. In the absence of a recipe, opt for a concoction primarily composed of sweet ingredients.
Inspect the basket positioned at the base of the picnic table to procure Eggs. It has the capacity to accommodate a maximum of 10 Eggs.
If the Trainer ID of Chespin and its father Pokemon/Ditto is the same, it will result in a lengthier waiting period for Eggs to appear. Conversely, if their IDs differ, the chances of Eggs appearing are enhanced.
How to Hatch Eggs Quickly
Hatching Chespin Eggs requires a total of 2560 Steps. However, there is no need to meticulously track every single step taken by the player character during the Egg Hatching process.
To improve the sentence structure and clarity:
To hatch eggs more easily, it is recommended to ride around on Koraidon/Miraidon. If players still have the Egg Power effect active, this method will be even more effective. Additionally, keeping a Pokemon with the Flame Body Ability in the party will accelerate the egg hatching process.
Pokemon such as Larvesta & Volcarona and Karkoal & Coalossal are examples of Scarlet & Violet Pokemon with the Flame Body Ability. However, Fletchinder & Talonflame also possess this Ability. Charcadet has Flame Body as a Hidden Ability, which can only be obtained through 3-Star Raids or higher. Therefore, players should select a Pokemon with Flame Body as either their First or Secondary Ability.
Players can catch a Fletchling as early as Poco Path. It'll evolve into Fletchinder at level 17.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available for Nintendo Switch.
