To celebrate the 2023 Pokemon World Championships, Pokemon GO is hosting a special event until August 15 at 8 pm local time. During this event, Passimian will be introduced to Niantic's mobile game, Pikachu will appear wearing a unique World Championships t-shirt, and, for the first time, Shiny Scraggy will make its debut. However, there is more to this event than meets the eye.
As with other events in Pokemon GO, there are timed research tasks available for trainers to complete in order to earn special rewards. However, one particular task is causing confusion among players. The third task requires trainers to 'Use 5 Charged Attacks.' While this may appear straightforward, Niantic has omitted an essential piece of information that would assist players in properly completing the task.
How to Use Charged Attacks in Pokemon GO
There are two types of attacks in Pokemon GO battles: Fast Attacks and Charged Attacks. Fast Attacks are performed by tapping on the screen repeatedly, while Charged Attacks can only be used once they are powered up and appear as a button on the lower part of the screen. Charged Attacks are generally stronger than Fast Attacks and their strength can be increased by successfully completing a touch-screen minigame.
To fulfill the requirement of the current questline, players must use a Charged Attack on a Pokemon that is weak to the attack type, known as a supereffective attack. For example, using a Fire-type Charged Attack on a Grass-type Pokemon, or a Water-type move on a Fire-type Pokemon. If players do not use a supereffective Charged Attack, the quest will not register as complete.
How to Teach a Pokemon a New Charged Attack
To change a Pokemon's Charged Attack in Pokemon GO, there are two methods available:
The first option involves accessing the Item menu and utilizing a Charged TM on the Pokemon. This action will impart a new random Charged Attack to the Pokemon.
The other way is to click on a Pokemon's profile and click the 'New Attack' button. By paying up Candy and Stardust, a new move will be taught.
Pokemon GO is available on mobile devices.
