Overwatch 2 Season 5 update brings hero changes, including Junker Queen nerf and Lifeweaver buff, confirmed by Blizzard

The highly anticipated Overwatch 2 Season 5 update has been confirmed to feature a nerf for Tank hero Junker Queen and a buff for Support hero Lifeweaver. Although the full patch notes are not yet available, Blizzard has released a roadmap detailing the exciting additions fans can expect from this upcoming season. Among them are the debut of the limited-time event Questwatch, Mischief & Magic, a new cinematic, the Summer Games event, Creator Workshop mode, 5v5 mini comp season, and the highly anticipated return of On Fire. As is customary, balance updates for several heroes, including Junker Queen and Lifeweaver, are also expected.

Junker Queen's Commanding Shout ability will receive a reduction in health from 200 to 150 in Overwatch 2 Season 5. Additionally, she will experience a delay in charging her Ultimate ability. Meanwhile, there's good news for Lifeweaver fans as the character is receiving buffs in Season 5. Although the specifics have not been revealed yet, Keller has hinted at increased healing and damage output. In addition, tweaks will be made to Life Grip and Petal Platform, and Lifeweaver will also see a slight reduction in hitbox size.

With the upcoming release of Overwatch 2, changes to the game's snipers, Widowmaker and Hanzo, have been announced. In an effort to remove one-shot abilities between characters, it will be more challenging for these two snipers to take out opponents with a single hit. Widowmaker's ability to one-shot 200 health heroes beyond 50 meters will be removed, while Hanzo will no longer be able to one-shot 250 health heroes. The reaction from the Overwatch 2 community is yet to be seen, as some may appreciate the change while others may argue that it limits the viability of these characters. Blizzard has demonstrated a willingness to adjust and balance heroes in the game, so it's possible that further changes may follow to achieve the optimal gameplay experience.

Overwatch 2 is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
