Mason Mount is currently undergoing a medical examination at Manchester United today, in preparation for his anticipated £60m transfer from Chelsea. According to our sources, the agreement encompasses a possible £5m in additional payments, which are heavily contingent upon the player's performance and achievements. In addition, United has presented the English national with a five-year contract, with the potential for an extra year.
Mount has one year remaining in his contract at Stamford Bridge, and United's initial three bids were turned down by their Premier League competitors.
United is still engaged in discussions with Atalanta regarding the acquisition of striker Rasmus Hojlund. There is a disparity in the valuation, but it is believed that the player is eager to make the transfer.
The club will consider other targets if they believe Atalanta is asking too much for the player. United is also considering Eintracht Frankfurt's striker, Kolo Muani.
In addition, the pursuit of a new goalkeeper is still ongoing. Inter Milan's Andre Onana is among the players United is considering. However, his potential cost is a concern, and United is exploring alternative options.
Dialogue is still open with David de Gea over a new deal, with the 32-year-old Spaniard officially out of contract.
Why Man Utd want Mount

Mason Mount's attacking stats compared
Erik ten Hag crossed paths with Mount during his time as the head coach of Ajax. While on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, the 18-year-old's powerful free-kick resulted in his team's third goal, securing a 3-2 victory against Ajax in March 2018.
Ten Hag, in charge of only his eighth game at Ajax, allegedly made an attempt to secure the loan signing of Mount from Chelsea for the subsequent season. Ten Hag's interest in the young midfielder was piqued by his impressive performance in his inaugural full season of senior football, wherein he notched up a commendable tally of fourteen goals and ten assists primarily from his position in central midfield.
'Mount departure an indictment of shambolic Chelsea'
Jonathan Liew of The Guardian told We News:
"Manchester United are getting the better deal, for certain.
This deal reflects the disorganization at Chelsea and their poor management over the past year. Chelsea will be losing one of their talented players, a beloved figure amongst both the team and the fans, who have consistently performed admirably. The inability to retain him and construct a team centered around him speaks volumes about Chelsea's current state. Furthermore, the fact that he perceives Manchester United as a more stable and enduring choice reinforces this viewpoint.
