Actor Brett Goldstein, known for his role as Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, joined the MCU as Hercules in the film's post-credits scenes. This introduction set the stage for a potential conflict between Hercules and Thor, in which Goldstein could potentially play a significant role in Thor 5's storyline. The recent concept art release has generated further excitement for Hercules' future in the MCU.
What We Know About Thor 5 & If It's Actually Happening
Goldstein's portrayal of the stoic Roy Kent in Ted Lasso, coupled with his exceptional comedic timing, makes him an ideal candidate for a more prominent role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor movies. With the possibility of a Thor 5 on the horizon, based on his debut in the MCU, it is highly likely that Goldstein would be a perfect fit to play alongside Hemsworth's God of Thunder.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, Hercules makes his debut as Zeus, played by Russell Crowe, instructs him to seek revenge against Thor for stealing his Thunderbolt and nearly killing him. This opens up the possibility of a potential storyline for Thor 5, where Hercules goes on a vengeful mission, forcing Thor to defend himself while safeguarding Love, the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher, whom he has recently adopted. However, it appears that Hercules may not be the main antagonist in this speculated Thor 5 adventure.
According to Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor 5 would benefit from having a more formidable villain than Cate Blanchett's Hela. Since Hercules is typically portrayed as a hero in the comics, it is unlikely that he is the character Waititi is referring to.
Given the conclusion of Secret Invasion, where the President of the United States outlaws all alien life on Earth, an adaptation of the Marvel Comics Siege storyline would be a perfect fit for Thor 5. In this storyline, Hercules could assist Thor in protecting New Asgard from potential villains, leading to a resolution and setting the stage for Goldstein's character to become an Avenger, similar to Hercules' role in the comics.
